@sammyc some people might see that as an insult, but thank you sir.

@mokey fuck yeah! I have a 5 letter surname, really easy and gets spelt incorrect all the time. Plus adding an S to the end when I've never spelt nor said it with an S. What the fuck?

Edit: or do I mean spelled?

@mokey @taniwharugby winds me up no end when fucking idiots spell your name wrong when replying to an email with both your name in the header and also in the bloody signature.

        Plain ignorant and unprofessional.

Hah. My bosses just got a new boss. He emails boss Hannah to introduce himself and addresses her as Heather in the email. Are you fucking kidding me? Way to immediately expel any trust in your professionalism and integrity.

My wife has a double barreled first name and it's amazing how few people know what a "hyphen" is when she tries to spell it out.

I'm looking forward to seeing Frizzell get another shot at 6 for the All Blacks. His strength as a ball-carrier can break up tight defences. Not too many players like that around at the moment.

I'd pick a back three of Ioane, Naholo and BFA. Try to trouble the Pumas with pace.

@mokey both my kids are always like 'Dad they spelled our name wrong'...'get used to it kids, happened to me all my life'

I dont get wound up, but is annoying given there are a few ways to spell it, they always assume the wrong way.

Whats worse is TR Jnr and his cousin were in the school production a month ago, they spelled her surname (the same surname) right and his wrong haha

I sympathise. Youngest daughter's middle name is Ngaire. The number of times I've been told by English people "what a lovely name, but why have you spelt it wrong? shouldn't it be "Nyree"? "

Good rugby thread! Nah it really is!

I don't care when my name is spelt incorrectly but what bemuses me a bit is when they see it come up in an email for the first time and still spell it wrong.

That is what you get when you are a Robin though

People used to mispronounce my names all the time while growing up. I corrected them and then moved on with the rest of my life.

My boys have Nordic names that are often mispronounced. Again, I correct them and move on to more important matters. Also happened to my Norwegian wife on countless occasions. Yet, miraculously she came through it all unscathed.

Come on, you have to admit, "Sonjohnkoksoong" is a bit of a minefield.

                            It's spelt 'creamofsumyoungguy'

My wife reverted to her maiden name because a hyphen appeared too difficult for people.

I must admit I find it equal parts amusing and irritating when I have to phonetically spell one of the most common names in English speaking countries to someone called Nahasapeemapetilon.

My wife has a double barreled first name and it's amazing how few people know what a "hyphen" is when she tries to spell it out.

My wife reverted to her maiden name because a hyphen appeared too difficult for people.

I must admit I find it equal parts amusing and irritating when I have to phonetically spell one of the most common names in English speaking countries to someone called Nahasapeemapetilon.

A friend of mine's wife had to do the same thing recently, except in her case it wasn't the hyphen that was too difficult - it was him!
