Am I the only person who thought his portrayal in Gangs of New York had the same character mannerisms, etc. in There Will Be Blood ?

no you're not , the two movies kind of blur into one in my memory.

Daniel Day Lewis was a great actor up until Hams of New York and There Will Be Ham.

@rancid-schnitzel I knew exactly where this was going as soon as I wrote it. He is a magnificent actor who on occasion hams the fuck out of his roles.

Good to see I'm not the only one who doesn't see the appeal of There Will Be Blood.

But he's fuckin' good in My Left Foot, In The Name of the Father and Lincoln. The Last of the Mohicans is one of my favourite movies, but I like the Michael Mann vibe. I could watch the last 10 mins repeatedly.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I am not interested in watching movies on a small screen. I very rarely watch movies on a plane for that reason.

Give me my HT system anyday! 🙂

I still spin those silver thingys to listen to music too.

How would you like some of my dad's awesome christmas ham?

I have been meaning to watch Gangs of New York again. I saw it on the big screen when released but not since then. I'll save it for Christmas. 😉

I think we discussed the other day shitty movies and shitty movies that win oscars and the low worth of the award. One that stands out in my mind is Helen Hunt in as good as it gets, a very average movie apart from one line and I think Greg Kinnear got a nominations for it too.

    That line

is In the movie, “As good as it gets”, Jack Nicholson, who plays a writer in the movie, is just leaving the publisher. The young female receptionist asks Nicholson a question.
    Receptionist:

“How do you write women so well?”

    Nicholson:

“I think of a man and I take away reason and accountability.”

Nah that's a very good movie. But yes HH was decidedly average. GK and Jack were excellent.

Didn't even have to wait for Christmas!
