@chris-b be hugely surprised if more than 1 or 2 players outside the current group are in consideration for the RWC (barring Injury)

So my take is that it is looking beyond 2019.

@taniwharugby Injury is likely to be a thing, though. 🙂

Certainly it's inescapable that there will be a bit of a look to the future - though the question is why this year.

The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to think that maybe it will mainly be c. The extra guys they take will tell the story - two spare props, a hooker, halfback and first five - plus one.

@chris-b It's mainly so that the test 23 avoid having to travel in the week of the England test which would affect recovery, preparation and performance. There maybe one eye on the future but I think Hansen and co are more interested in the now.

@cgrant Agree with Pari Pari Parkinson, he looks really promising. Don't get the hype about Strange, Parkinson has been a lot more impressive imo.

Strange had a very impressive super season. Apparently the Crusaders coaches are convinced he’ll be a long term All Black.

Parkinson has had a great NPC, agree with you on this one.

They probably said the same about Sam Broomball as well

apparently NZR are negotiating with Matt Todd's Japanese team about release for all or part of the EOYT (just heard on the wireless)

Panasonic offered to have a release clause in Todd's contract but NZR declined. Seems stupid to be back-tracking now whatever the circumstances.

I think that once Todd made the decision to go, and according to newspaper reports he made a financial decision to do so, then we should be looking elsewhere for this tour as it will give us a chance to build depth. He's been around enough to just be able to slot back in next year.

If airfares and accom aren't too pricy this could be a weekender.

Ooooh, very tempting. I went a couple of years ago and it was excellent. Porchetta sandwiches outside the stadium! Other half wasn't too impressed with them not serving wine though.

Food and drink delivered to your seat is also hell awesome. Great place to watch and the Italian fans are awesome.

Replace Jordan with Lam (Jordan too young for the wise men), and Nonu with A N Other and I reckon you're right. Be great for Nonu to make a come back, great story, but he's been grinding boring shite in France for too long now - unless he's one of the non playing 6 just in casers.

I see Jordan is getting a lot of support - he's always struck me as a bit flaky previously (like McNicholl) and I'm surprised to see him being promoted ahead of Ennor. But I've watched fuck all NPC.

Also surprising to see Proctor roundly being preferred ahead of Thompson.

Lentjes is smarter than the journo who calls him a ABs contender. It has only been some media that linked him to higher honours. If the ABs coaches select him, I'll seriously question their sanity.

Despite being linked to higher honours, Otago flanker James Lentjes thinks he is a long shot to make the All Blacks' end of year tour squad.

@sparky A big question with that selection is that they would have to keep at least five props in Japan - in case someone got injured in the warm-ups.

So of the 10 "Main Squad" players who are staying in Japan, three would be props.

That doesn't seem likely to me. I reckon add Ta'avao and probably a loosehead of your choice.
