@tim On the try where the guy stepped Papalii (then was held up by Tuipulotu) we were pretty short of defenders down that side. Disappointing.

Officials trying their very hardest to keep the Japanese in it:

Try 1. Pushes Jordie over with his arms.

Try 2. Knock on and offside

Try 3. No clear and obvious evidence of the try. (Balance if probabilities... maybe ... but uou shouldn't be awarding that).

Otherwise OK. A few passes pushed and minor errors letting us down.

    PS. The jersey looks grey

This is a scratch team, it's to be expected that they'll score against a team not immersed in ABs routines after a week together. It's perfectly acceptable too, at least the ABs coaches and nzru think it is. This was always going to happen. So NZ c/D is twice as good as Japan a, a team that has beaten the boks, other tier 1 teams, drew and closer losses too.

If Jordie and the ref weren't so shit, it would be 38-7, No problem with that.

Add in a few dodgy calls against ABs.

The "deliberate" knock on v Ngani? FFS

Except taking of Jordie, I don't think they should go to the bench too soon. If the starting side plays like this, how will the even more inexperienced bench go?

Rugby can get fucked. This ref is a disgrace. How the hell they can justify ignoring the shove in Jordies back or the knock on into an offside player leading to the 2nd try where he was allowed an eternity to ground the ball is beyond me.

Jordie just needs to calm the fuck down and play to be error free rather than trying to pull off miracle plays.

    Whitelock and Fifita anonymous.

Dalton to be the new Kaino hopefully.

We are giving them chances from our mistakes but otherwise we look quite good out there. We look relatively cohesive for a makeshift team.

Officiating doing its best to keep the game on a level pegging,.
Been impressed with Papalii even though yes there was missed tackle but that was because we short of defenders on that side.
    Hemapo going very well too..

I'm old enough to remember when the All Blacks were famous for ferocious defending and not give tries away. Tackling was what they did. Those times seem a very long time ago.

It looks like Bridge is coming on for the second half.

Yeah not a good look by Papalii in the lead up to that 2nd try, couple of mistakes there but otherwise looking bloody solid.

Naholo and NMS are shit. At least NMS is good comedy value whenever he tries to show his massive step...and just ends up going straight.

    Barrett... What the fuck?

Brown must be Chimney sweeping to add some extra cash on the side

To be fair Hansen phased out and shook loose Aussie McLean relatively quickly. I wouldn't put it past him to flush McLeod and beg Smith (or someone else) for half a year more if he is genuinely not up to speed.

We’ll look better when we eventually put a blindside flanker onto the field.

I suspect John Plumtree has told the Japanese. "Run down the blindside a lot, Vaea Fifita doesn't like tackling."
