ˈpÉ›tÉmeɪn/, French pronunciation: ​[lÉpetɔˈman]) was the stage name of the French flatulist (professional farter) and entertainer Joseph Pujol (June 1, 1857 – 1945). He was famous for his remarkable control of the abdominal muscles, which enabled him to seemingly fart at will. His stage name combines the French verb pÃter, "to fart" with the -mane, "-maniac" suffix, which translates to "fartomaniac". The profession is also referred to as "flatulist", "farteur", or "fartiste".[1]<br><br>
It is a common misconception that Joseph Pujol actually passed intestinal gas as part of his stage performance. Rather, Pujol was able to "inhale" or move air into his rectum and then control the release of that air with his anal sphincter muscles. Evidence of his ability to control those muscles was seen in the early accounts of demonstrations of his abilities to fellow soldiers.</blockquote> -

<p>Most awesome bit is, its a great white, and it coasts about looking bemused while the guy flails about shitting himself & screaming. Then he will tell anyone who will listen how close he came to death, despite the fact that the shark a) was never even interested & b) could have killed him at anytime & c) if anything was actually more likely to give him a "what is this?" bite due to his panicked 5 year old girl flailing... </p> -

It's the pedestrians though. Incredible stupidity followed by the sheer insouciance. Are they all that cool in the face of danger or is it just that that haven't realised what shit they were in.<br><br>I'm going for the latter. it's where very slow reactions actually make you look in control.
