Wow! Finally reason (not mark) prevails. It is good of Tana but what choice did he have other than throwing toys etc. I think he'll be much better for a few years with Leon.

He didn't mention Slackbladder either. Was he a traitor or just kicked out?
As a Blues supporter it has been a tough ride but:
Crusaders were the worst NZ losers when the whole franchise thing started
Highlanders were a joke as were the Chiefs for a long time
Canes title took a long time to come. Apparently it took a Cantab to fix that (after he left)So it was the Blues turn to be shit - for far too long - and this is our year (and the Warriors). So there.

On the contrary, no team was ever better & more skilled at falling out of mathematical finals contention, then making a massive end of season run to finish fifth. Nobody.

Has there been any announcements about the Dev/u20's coaches? Last year Coventry was the Dev coach
Tiatia, Lavea and Witcombe should be the top of the list (Ieremia is taking the Auckland side on tour during Feb)
Last year Steven Bates was the under 20's forwards coach. That should stop. It's a ridiculous decision to hire a guy whose day job is being a Chiefs cheerleader

Wasn't a massive fan of MacDonald taking over from Tana the last time but I'll give this a chance...
But full credit for the Blues making a move. Tana has been an improvement on SJK and Lam but still ultimately was seemed outmatched and outclassed by other NZ franchise coaches. Still ultimately I would like to see a non-ex-AB coach though after now four on the trot.

One of the guys I respected the most. Grizz, Robbie, Don Hayes etc must be hanging their heads in shame.

@duluth Whitcombe is on board with NZ U20s, would they allow him to do both, given he could potentially entice some young stars from the NZ U20s to the Blues (and Northland...) if he is a coach people want to work with

In what way was Tana an improvement? He has a worse record than both those coaches, selected terrible squads and presided over some of the worst results in our history. 60fucking points conceded on Eden Park FFS.
