Just pulling your leg, but I err towards paying authors. They get screwed enough, different from movies etc

I have half a storage locker full of books(that I'm too lazy to sort) ... I too like to pay authors, but I tend to use ebooks like a library now - give a book a quick read to see whether I like it then order online.

i really like buying books. I don't have a kindle/ipad, and don't think i need one, because i really like books. Oh how i laugh when Mrs Mariner's ipad runs flat and she has to stop reading.

I put off buying an e-reader until I went on holiday to SE Asia last year and got a tablet for the trip (for movie watching initially). It's bloody awesome having 100s of books at your disposal and I can manage the logistics of keeping my tablet powered up. I'd still much rather read an actual book though but as I read a bunch of books on the go an e-reader is great for travel.
-

haha i am that brave/stupid. i am a slow learner...

i just finished the GOT books myself. Will start the TV show this week (wrong thread i know).
-

I like books. I like how they smell when new, the feel of them, the whole tactile experience.

But I have two Kindles. One for the car and one by my bed. I like being able to read on the go - while I am on the physio table - basically any time I feel like it.

I like not ever losing my place and as an insomniac I love the fact that if I finish my book at 2.30 am I can go to the Library without stirring.

You get about 35 hours of battery life on a Kindle Virgil. Couldn't you guys think of anything else to do in the dark....
-

playing spotlight would have been irresponsible given the drain on torch batteries
-

Er you read while driving... so your that guy..
Nah we are married with kids, anniversaries and birthdays thats my lot. -
Beyond the edge - more documentary than movie about Sir Edmund Hilary's ascent up Everest. Am about half way through his biography 'An extraordinary life' which is very interesting but doesn't have me eager to pick it up and finish (except the bit about the ascent and his trip to the South Pole)

Decent watch though, obviously a lot of panoramic sweeps of stunning mountain vistas as well as real life images and voice overs throughout. -

For some reason I missed this at the movies. That guy they got to play Ed was a good match.
-

Mentioned earlier in the thread. I saw in in 3D and some of the shots were breathtaking. Although the reconstructions with the actors were filmed on Aoraki-Mt Cook, they shot new hi def footage to cut in from Everest itself. There is an amazing 360 pan from the summit.

Holy shit, I can't think of a preview of a movie that I thought looked shittier. TBF I don't think much of the show though. He was funny as though on Graham Norton just being himself the other night.

Watched Arnold's latest movie Sabotage tonight. Was generally shit. Supporting actors were Sam Worthington, Josh Holloway and Terrance Howard. The main female character was so bloody annoying too.
-

What's 'the show'? I don't even know the actor. Just a JB fan.
-

I'm wondering if Nepia has his wires crossed with Mrs Browns Boys the movie?

A mate of mine asked me if I watched that show and told me it was hilarious. He lied.
-

Edit I see TR solved the riddle.

Crucial, did you see Jersey boys?

No, subject matter not really my thing but it looks like it's worth a watch. Is it good?

Nepia, consensus seems to be that you didn't see the vid and misread Mr Brown as Mrs Brown. Correct?

James Brown insisted on being called Mr Brown. Mrs Brown is the world's least funny irishman.

If you watched the clip you would have seen the great snip between JB and Bobby Byrd.

"Are we done Mr Byrd?"

" 'fraid not Mr Brown"

"I said, are we done?"

"I think we got more funk in the trunk"

and this great line...

"you tried to kill James Brown today! You wanna go down in history as the man who killed the funk?"

How you could think that was shit confused me.
-
I thought jersey boys was good, pretty similar to rock of ages . I'm not a huge fan of Franki Valli but it's a decent story with plenty of laughs it's also very cool seeing the story behind his songs .
I did listen to a few of their tunes after the movie and IMHO the guys in the movie are better.
You would probably appreciate seeing the brill building and the stuff going on it around the four seasons while they were there .
The cars and fashions from the era looked very cool on the big screen . I normally loathe musicals but would recommend it, -

wait, what the fuck? You liked Rock of Ages?

I see. So all this talk of hot chicks is just really like when George Michael over compensated by having hordes of hot women in his videos.

Hand in the man card, it's been revoked.
