    Thanks @Mokey

    That was awesome to watch!!!!!

Love how KW lifts up Ajaz at the end there!

    Super team

Liking the Watling stiffness of the team too. We may have low score innings but we also had top score innings.

Was the assistant coach one of the Flower brothers? The guys in the paki fancy dress were the best. Cheers to tears

I have to admit that since learning about consanguinity, I found myself constantly studying the crowd faces for similarities.
During which I also noted that prayers didn't work 😊

@canefan Sodhi was guilty of bowling too many full tosses so his control was an issue. Of course, one of those pies gave him a caught and bowled.

The delivery that Patel bowled to Abbas that went for review was even better than his final delivery. That looked to have only just missed the off stump, and might have caused the noise all the fielders believed they heard.

There wasn't a big crowd there but the camera shots of them were so funny. Not just Mickey Arthur pacing back and forwards but of the two Paki fans praying before every delivery.

@canefan I might have been a bit too subtle there, or you're being even more subtle...(one exclamation point isn't very angry though, you could do better).

Either way, we agree, an angry Wagner is great to watch.

One of the the pleasing things was that the team was basically a Tauranga City team with a few extras.

Hesson clearly didn’t see anything worthwhile from Patel, despite his record the past 3 years

I guess he valued Mark Craig's ( admittedly very good ) talents as a low order batsman so much he was blinded to the fact he was a completely shithouse spin bowler most of the time.

Patel wouldn't be there if Santner was fit.

It's good that I can remember him for this, and not Devcich hitting 6 fours off one of his overs in the T20 final.

He took a 5fer when we beat England at Leeds last tour, including Alastair Cook. I will always love him for that.

    But yeah agree with you.

@tewaio and like Patel, Craig was MoM on debut taking 8 in the victory over WI away - best bowling figures on debut for NZ and giving us only our second ever win in the Caribbean.

No denying Craig had a small handful of absolutely brilliant performances but an average of 46 indicates these were very few.

Patels first class record is pretty encouraging though. Will be interesting if this one performance is enough to leapfrog Sodhi cos I have a feeling the selectors go back to three seamers in NZ particularly if they have 'all rounder' Mitch Santner in the mix too.

I doubt both Santner and Patel make the same XI in any conditions as they are both left-armers, albeit quite different due to their heights. Somerville may get a chance in either the 2nd or 3rd tests vs Pakistan because Stead has mentioned rotating the bowlers.

Is de Grandhomme worth sticking with? He almost never performs with the bat which really annoys me. All the talent in the world but has no temperament. Who else is there?

CdGH is a throwback to 90s era Black Caps where our limited overs basher gets a run in the test side because there is no one else.

Still dining out on that one performance with the ball...

You might as well play Southee in that role based on the personnel available. While the tail becomes even longer if Southee bats at 7, he'll either get no runs like CdG or be good for a quick 20-30. Plus his bowling should be better than what CdG is offering.

So the BCs are in the luxurious position of jettisoning a guy with a sub 30/plus 30 bowling/batting average ? Righto....
