what strikes me is that Latham bats time and balls - with the middle order he's got to protect, I'll take that everytime. I like that he can act as a fulcrum for others to bat around him. And Nicholls is really growing on me in terms of application and graft - something I'm not used to at #5 for NZ.

How good is this innings after the first innings?

How good is it when the best two Batsmen get the lowest scores and those scores are still 40 and 48 ?

I'm also loving Latham and Nicholls career stats at the moment too.

    fuck.

Well played tom latham. Application, concentration, fitness and dedication cannot be faulted. 214 run partnership and he ran bllody hard to make sure Nicholls got his hundy.

    Poohs. Latham out. 176.

    Tea.

    Soooo ... 535 the lead.

Declare now or give Col an hour (if he can make it that long) of ODI death batting? Make it a 6-hundy chase in 13 hours?

    Option A is roughly 2.5/over.

I'm a fan of option B (approx 3.5 per over).

    But would take either.

grind the fielding team into the dirt...lots of time, as long as we get 3 new balls

Declare about 5:20 or 5:30, Southee and Boult get a full run at them tonight and again tomorrow.

Optimistic! Might not even get to stumps the way Boult is bowling.

Careful fellas. Similar bold predictions were thrown around last test before they dug in and saved it.

Mind you two whole days looks a bridge way too far.

Let’s hope that on Sunday we’re not saying, ‘quite the change from mid-afternoon on the 28th’.....

We should have at least 5 around the bat for Patel. Lead of 600 and no attacking intent from this pair.

Bit of swing available so a bit disappointing not to pick up one wicket. Good thing is - with the amount of time available - we probably only need to pick up two wickets today to be on schedule to win - though, obviously 3+ will be better.

Sitting relaxing and watching with my oldest son, I was about his age when I got info cricket in a big way and this current BC team has enough heroes to get him excited if I teach him right.

He's taken a particular liking to Wagner cos he bowls fast and is left handed like Dad.

You don't think Shayne O'Connor or Murphy Su'a would have had the same appeal back in the day?

Luckily for me Paddles was at his peak when I started watching seriously.
