Happened to watch Jack Reacher 2, while we're on the topic. "Don't go Back?" Or something...

Anyway it was a good way to kill a couple of hours. Cobie Smulders is hot. But it's basically the same as the last movie with a different location i.e. basically every Reacher book ever.

3 dead alpha bad guys out of 5 Tom Cruises having the shit kicked out of them

Agreeed - I've stopped reading them. The same reason I stopped reading Wilbur Smith novels decades ago.

@jegga considering Lawrence Dallaglio was the basis, a tall guy like Gerard Butler would do it, not a body builder type

So Mamoa would be ok then. He's a big solid unit but he's no Bautista/The Rock

The new version of Watership Down. I'm sure I'm one of many young people who was more than a wee bit traumatised by the original. Holy shit. You think it's going to be a boring bunny movie and they're farking killing each other. Death is lurking everywhere. Remember being absolutely transfixed. So cool.

The new version is very meh. The CGI is pretty crap (rabbits look more like kangaroos and are difficult to tell apart) and the 3 main characters aren't nearly as well developed despite the makers having much more time to work with. Bigwig in particular was terrible. He was an awesome character, but in this version he's just a psycho dick. One of the worst parts was a previously minor character Clover going to look for a presumed dead Hazel when it was Fiver (to the tune of Bright Eyes) who did this in the original. Kehaar the seagull is also an absolute prick. They developed the baddies much better (had more time) but heaps of violence was cut out. Being the BBC they of course injected some SJW bullshit into it (male rabbits can't dig apparently) but it didn't make much difference and I liked how they developed the struggles of the female prisoners. But ultimately the whole thing was a more sanitised version and what's the point of that? Will definitely be watching the original again soon.

I hate to be the guy who says "the book is better", but the book is better.

I read somewhere where the movie traumatised viewers. Not me. I thought it was awesome. Mind you I'd read the book, and was a little pissed off that they couldn't fit all of the story (and violence) into the movie.

Read the book to Ms Boo Jr many years ago.

Still remembers it fondly. As do I.

Agree, book is better (usually is). Saw movie first so was like a man being mugged in a meadow. Total shock. It was weird back then with animated films. Parents seemed to think animated automatically meant kids films. I recall being at a party and us kids being placed in front of a TV and shown Animal Farm. ANIMAL Farm ffs!

The rabbits didn’t look like rabbits they looked like hares ffs, also the start and finish of the original were a lot better than in the sequel . They shortened them down and ruined them. As for male rabbits can’t dig ....
Overall it was an underwhelming way to spend Xmas evening lying on the couch like a bloated beached whale . In revenge my son and I went out hunting and he got four rabbits and I got two hares . That’ll teach the bbc to mess with one of my favourite movies as a kid.

That's the difference between the two versions in a nutshell. The original makes you want to leave rabbits alone, the new one makes you want to wipe them out.

Who knows the education @Virgil had, but probably didn't need much to just carry money around.

Ah yes, Watership Down - You've read the book, you've seen the movie, now try the pie.

    Shin Godzilla

Latest Japanese Godzilla movie (2016). Not a traditional Toho Godzilla movie at all, more a bizarre mix of satire of Japanese politics, anti-nuclear, and rampaging monster. A bit confusing with many many characters and lots of political sub-plots, but awesome special effects of the monster rampaging though Tokyo several times while destroying US stealth bombers.

yeah I watched it, was decent, rushed ending though.

@Hooroo Dont watch the Haunting of Hill House on Netflix then bro, that'll def have you up at night 🙂

No chance of me watching that purely because of the title.

Bird Box suckered me in... I thought it was a metaphor...

It was stressful as fuck. The kind of movie you regret watching halfway through but then have to finish it to see what the fuck happens in the end.

The end kind of sucked for me. Yeah cool, they were saved but no detail on what was smoking them and also how they could 'kill' it

Well fuck... Guess I can take that off the watch list...

I'm actually really sorry about that. I wasn't thinking about I was giving the end away, more that I was having a conversation about it.

I will try and remember to Spoiler it next time.

    My Bad!

So I finally watched Bird Box. Thought it started off well but then slipped away, didn't give me anything close to the shivers of Hill House.

About half an hour in I was loudly proclaiming "where's all the fucken blind people?!".

Anyway my theory.... How do we spoiler now?

    SPOILER LOOK AWAY

    HERE IT COMES, KEEP SCROLLING

    some kinda Armageddon

    OK IT'S DONE
