The Maze Runner - a teenage boy wakes to find he is in a walled community of similarly aged boys but has no recollection of his life before, some of these other boys say they have been living there for 3 years or more.

Another in the line of teen-novel-movie types, but not as good as Hunger Games or Divergent, but was ok, hopefully they follow through with the franchise, assuming what you find out means the next movie could (if they do it properly) be a good 'un.

I just watched this - they should have called it Lord of the Maze.

They're making the next movie already.

Not sure everything would have been as family friendly when the girl arrived in real life ....
-

Trailers up for American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper as navy seal Chris Kyle and directed by Clint Estwood. I read the book of this last year, he comes across as a pretty unlikable person but very good at his job. Should be worth seeing.

Wow, the American Sniper trailer is awesome but that Mad Max one has put me off wanting to see it.

The score reminded me of the lighter moments in Start Wars and LOTRs... not gritty enough for Mad Max imo.
-

I had the same feeling but not so much with the score, but with the look (cinematography I guess), it seemed a bit Star Wars prequels like.

It's been a while since I watched the old ones but in my memory they use old 70s/80s cars not some retro steampunk ones that feature in this.
-

Yeah, needed better music, the visuals looked amazing. Remember, it's the marketing department that chucks those together. This version was better;

I'm guessing that Bane-ish type mask came into play after the release of the Dark Knight Rises.

Serious question: Is Mad Max still based in post apocalyptic Oz or is it just taking into account that a lot of Poms now live there?
-

Check that: Now seems to be in a place called "The Wasteland". So it could be in post apocalyptic Oz or modern day Palmerston North.
-
This does not look good. Sean Penn is no Liam Neeson.

http://www.hd-trailers.net/movie/the-gunman/

"The Possibilities Are Endless". It's a doco about Edwyn Collins (you know, he sang "Never Met a Girl Like You Before" in 1995) who had a catastrophic stroke a few years ago and was left pretty much unable to speak or understand much of anything. The film is about his way back to making more music. It's beautifully made and important, but really, really, REALLY hard to watch. I had to turn it off several times and go back to it once I could handle it again. It's certainly life affirming, and I'm glad I saw it, but I will almost certainly NEVER watch it a second time. It's just too hard.
