I'm reading American Sniper so far. Have to say his constant references to "you Yankees" are pissing me off.<br><br>
Anyway, on the flight back, watched the Dwayne Johnson version of Hercules. It didn't suck, but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it

Lone Survivor. Top movie. Not sure how much of it is true though.

<p>I've got the book, but will watch movie first. I've read Lone Survivor, these American military types seem to be pretty right wing, might is right, USA USA USA types of blokes ... but you know that going in.</p>
    <p> </p>
<p>I really enjoyed Hercules, I think Johnson is awesome in pretty much anything these days, and I liked how they didn't focus on the labours, but when they did show them they put a modern/realist spin on them. TBF the best part probably was the comic strip at the end showing them. Still, I thought it was a good popcorn movie. </p>

<p>Most of it is true going by the book, aside from a really compressed timeline and more cliff falling.</p>

<p>Yeah Lutteril wasn't that bad, and he actually seemed like an intelligent and thoughtful bloke when not in Texas George W supporting mode. </p>
    <p> </p>
<p>Is there any point me reading the book now? I just bought a copy the other day. ;(</p>
    <p> </p>
<p>You should definitely read Lone Survivor.</p>

It's interesting to see his perspective on what he was doing and the training etc. as I've said before he doesn't come across as the most likeable of people but I think 99.9% of people couldn't do what he did, also like Luttrell he comes across as reasonably intelligent. I just finished Carlos Hathcocks book and that was very good but quite sad reading about how the ms took it's toll on him.

<p>I've heard reports that Cooper is good in it. I just hope it can live up to the awesome trailer, which is the best movie trailer since the Pearl Harbour bomb dropping (and we know how well that went).</p>

<p>Luttrell came off as really likeable and so did Michael Murphy. They just seemed like good blokes. The other two seemed a bit edgier in the book, more how you'd think cold special forces guys would be. </p>
    <p> </p>
<p>I hadn't heard of Hathcock until looking up wiki after you mentioned it, I will search out the book now.</p>

I think there's a couple of books about Hathcock and only one is worth reading . Have you read no easy day by Mark Owen?

I'll give you the name when I get home, the guy was on the raid but didn't kill Bin Laden. Good read though , if toucan overlook the fact that Mark Owen is a pseudonym which may may of have even chose to confuse buyers looking for Mark. Bowdensmore cerebral books out the events

I think it was the first on you posted that I read about Hathcock. Good read. His idea to use the .50 call with a sight was pretty fucking gnarly

Chris Kyle was supposed to be a weird guy, and a frequent and outrageous liar. <br><br>

<p>American Sniper - was a bloody good movie. Didn't quite live up top the awesome trailer but still good nonetheless. The action scenes were decent, reminded me a bit of Generation Kill. The at home scenes were quite decent to, they looked at his psychological state a bit more than I expected they would. Bradley Cooper was pretty good too, his usual smarminess didn't come across and Sienna Miller looked good with dark hair. </p>

<p>Yeah, they left that out of the movie. Personally, seeing some of the things he did in Iraq, I'm not surprised he had some personality quirks when he came back.</p>

<p>I really enjoyed the film, a bit straight forward (as are most Clint Eastwood films) but Cooper was excellent. Deserves his nominations.</p>

The Jedde Ventura one is interesting, he is still suing Kyles widow and says he has no regrets about doing it. I thought he was a cock before but he's taken his resemblance tothe male genitalia to a whole new level.
