Enough so that our coach decided to put us up a grade the following season, without much consultation... at least that's how I remember it. I was playing front row and while we did front up against bigger front rows the skills were pretty much on par.But that next grade up? fuck me. Packing down against guys at least 20-30kg heavier, who had often played at least a bit in prems, and were only playing the current grade due to not wanting to train harder, or from other commitments. Had two rib injuries that year, and one scrum I will never forget where my neck was screaming due to the pressure. Scary shit!
It's so shit when you pop your head above your ceiling. I've had a few humbling experiences that brought back the stark reality of how untalented and physically limited i really was.
@mariner4life ha ha I had zero delusions, unfortunately that wasn't the case with our manager/coach.
I swear one front row probably weighed upward of 380-400kg, I knew one guy was around 140kg and his partners in crime were of similar size. They gassed super quick but they only had to lean against us in the scrum!!

Caught this from a reddit thread and in the comments they were talking about the transgender MMA fighter Fallon Fox, who actually got beaten (via choke hold) by a more talented female fighter. But that was after s/he'd smashed a bunch of less technically talented female fighters. So the extra strength was enough to beat down on 'lesser' fighters, but once someone skilled came along it was nite nite.

Saw that too. It's pretty harsh on the naturally born females who lose awards, accolades and very probably scholarships and cash because they are getting smashed by dudes.

@Paekakboyz 2 seasons ago when TR Jnr was playing U12, a team from Auckland came up to play them, thier front row was almost 300kg...fortunately these guys could barely run, but was bit of a shock for our 150kg front row to see them turn up haha.

As us little blokes found out the hard way in the 80s and 90s when more PI kids took up rugbyabsolutely. You have to be quick, strong, or smart.
And smart will only get you so far.
As a quick aside, now that it's off season, the NFL Instagram has been showing video of the Draft Combine performances of some of the stars. Jesus the level of athletic ability is just amazing.

As far as I know semenye wasn't born with actual meat and two veg.
To hold her to same standards as a born bloke isn't helping clear up this muddy problem imo.
But then again, the gender is a construct people don't actually want to find a solution to this problem, they just want exposure and publicity

Yeah she's intersex, so any limitations they put on her from a testosterone POV should not apply to Trans people, as Trans females have a raft of other biological advantages over women that go way beyond just testostorone.

She has no womb or ovaries but has internal testes . That’s not her fault obviously but it does give her a biological advantage.

Are female athletes with unaturally low testosterone levels allowed to take testosterone to get up to acceptable levels?

I think she should have to take meds . Part of me says that because of the shitty way the governing body in South Africa behaved when her issue came to light but also because she has advantages over a woman in the way her body is built .
I’d put money on the Chinese using CRISPR to produce athletes in a generation and I don’t know how you stop that .

@jegga yeah, fair enough if she has the other advantages males have then it's not fair. They need to be very strict on the guidelines for women's sport. If these people want to compete then it had to be against the men.
