@Bones @taniwharugby what you can’t see in those photos is the thick haze of ciggie smoke throughout the entire cabin, but especially down the back in the smoking section. As a kid if you’re parents smoked you did too.

My recollection of flying in the 60's and 70's is nothing like that Pan Am shot. Much prefer it today - entertainment systems alone make flying so much more bearable. I remember the days when in flight entertainment stopped and finished with the paperback you brought with you.

Plus far greater range. The first time I flew to London there were three stopovers! and the smoking.

You always got the Air NZ lolly though.

My old man used to talk about flying to Auckland on a flying boat in the 50's. Took about seven hours and he never left the bar. Said it was fantastic you had a proper stand up bar - only sat for take off and landing.

Jacinda has said NZ will not provide him any assistance to get him back here (given he has no passport, or money)

Listening to a bit on the radio about him, apparently he got in trouble with ISIS for breaking some of thier rules...like drinking alcohol, making alcohol..can take the boy out of Hamilton...
