. Dave Grohl is definitely the best front man in modern rock. He may not sing as well as Mike Patton or Chris Cornell (used to), or play guitar as well as Billy Corgan, but no one has more charisma, works harder, and thus has a crowd eating out of his hand, like Dave does. And fuck, work! 2.5 hours running around like the excitable child he is, playing hard, screaming his tits off, while the other band members take a break, he plays solo. Man crush enhanced (again).

Behind Eddie Vedder. Foo's are great but Pearl Jam are still the best stadium rock band going around for mine.
-

I prefer Pearl Jam over Foos to listen to but after three PJ Concerts, I find they lack a bit Live. First Concert of theirs I went to was fabulous, the second, great. and the third just good.

Everyone that goes to Foos concerts any time even the 5th and 6th come out saying the energy is amazing
-

Eddie Vedder? as a front man? really? I've seen him a couple of times, he's a bit meh. At least he can face the crowd these days...

It's harder for him though, given he's only got 2 decent albums worth of stuff to play, and they are 20+ years old...
-

This is the best mix I have heard in ages. (excuse the first 2 or 3 minutes - atmospherics)

From the Beat Broker half of San Francisco's Broker/Dealer, released under the umbrella of the excellent Dream Chimney, who you may remember from the Lovefingers tracks.

I was going to say exactly that Tim when the debate was on about Foo Fighter / Pearl Jam above.

Taylor era Stones set the standard for all other rock bands musically, and rock lifestyle / excess.

Still got the (faded) poster from their 73 Western Springs concert on my office wall.

Still the best concert I have ever attended (as a 13 yr old)

Set List:

Has a look at my google music collection for the first time in ages and realised there was a "Classic Rock" album they are giving away for free summer time ago, that I never listened to. Got this on it - such a great track from my teens:

<a class="bbc_url" href="

that song is so good. i remember having the cassingle

I've heard anecdotally that that's the most popular song for exotic dancers to listen while they remove their clothes on stage. -

Did you go to the mount smart gig in 1995 ? Poor old Dead flowers only got to do one song before they were pulled off stage. Tim and Neil Finn came out at the end and did a couple of their songs with Eddie. -

Been listening to a lot of Harry Nilsson lately. Some of you may remember this gem from "Goodfellas."

Learned it on guitar because fucking guitar. That and Sweet Child were the only songs worth knowing and playing badly on a shitty $200 guitar with a shitty $50 tube drive amp.

Classic hi-cut 90s babes with massive hair. A complete absence of any guitar equipment to signify actual music was played. Alice Cooper poisoning some blonde chick.

The understanding in my later years that there was probably a kilo of Columbian Gold on a table somewhere out of shot, and that the band were probably laughing their jacked up arses off between takes only adds to the fond memories.
-

There is nothing amusing about it. I had successfully purged my mind of Yes, King Crimson, ELP and all the other bloated mid 70's prog rock phenomenons and now this - asshole ;)
