it seems unrealistic until you read how Audie Murphy won his congressional medal of honour by doing much the same as they did but by himself with artillery backing him up http://www.badassoftheweek.com/murphy.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audie_Murphy

To Hell and Back was one of my favourite war movies as a kid. Quite bonkers that he starred in a movie about himself!

Nolte was a beautiful man back then. The film was Who'll Stop the Rain. Sadly the DVD and HD-rip (from MGM-HD channel) were both pretty, pretty shitty.

That film was a curious mix. The underlying theme was disgust at the parasites (corrupt cops etc) upon heroin users, but the movie got a bit fantastical. For most of its time though the film focused on how barbaric and corrupt treatment of people could be because they were fucked so hard by the extreme sentences and prohibitions of the drug war.

Some nice shots of Berkeley in it, including Cody's Books (Moe's is a much better store though).

American Sniper: Don't get the hype. It was ok, but pretty lightweight as a character piece, and a bit suspenseless as an action flick.

Finally got around to seeing Big Hero 6 and I really enjoyed it. I still think it was a travesty that Lego Movie wasn't nominated and didn't win best animated feature but Big Hero 6 is an admirable second best.

Disney must sit around counting their money these days - they own Pixar, Marvel and the Star Wars franchise. The mouse is killing it.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

Absolutely fucking loved it. I watched it again immediately after it finished. Best ending ever!

Colin Firth completely redeems his earlier outings in "Pride and who the fuck cares" and all those other movies where he plays he essentially the same guy.

But yeah, I know what you mean. For an actor that showed so much promise (Tumbledown) he's been a bit disappointing.

Chappie - apparently it is getting bad reviews and flopping at the box office. It's the latest Neil Bloemkamp movie. I enjoyed it, it's a cross between Robocop and Short Circuit, set in Jo'burg, with a robotic policeman who gains AI. It stars Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Waever, Dev Patel and Die Antwood (both of them in roles equal to Patel and Jackman in time and importance - and I thought they were really good, although TBF the characters were basically just based on them).

I saw the trailer for Mama Mia, it'd be interesting to know outside of money what motivated Firth and Brosnan to attach their names to a movie that looks as abhorrent to a heterosexual male as that one looked in the trailer.

You guys are a bit weird. Male actors are only allowed to make their money in macho films?

The male macho-ness this place sometimes descends to is quite comical at times. ;)

No I'd prefer they didn't make films like that at all , but I guess theres an audience for them -women, men they force to watch them with them on the vague promise of a bonk, homosexuals etc. If I was an actor there's no way in hell I'd let my name be associated with something as awful as Mama Mia. I'd head back to my day job before I lowered myself to singing Abba songs with Meryl Streep and Firth doesn't strike me as needing the coin that much.

Colin Firth is a lot of things, I wouldn't include macho in the list.
