Here is the UK election described in Game of Thrones. Because everything makes more sense this way;
 
Westeros (The United Kingdom) was ruled by the Baratheons (New Labour) with a charismatic leader who the people followed. The New Labour Rebellion had stopped years of cruel rule under the Mad Bitch Thatcher and Major John. However over time New Labours' true colours showed. Illegals wars in foreign lands cost their leader respect and power and he morphed into a useless fat waste.

The sneaky Lannisters (Conservatives) obsessed with keeping themselves and their mates rich set out a plan to take power.
 
The Starks (Lib Dems) had for the longest of time just got on with their business and had no desire for the crown; instead attempting to maintain order and balance across the Kingdom.
 
After the death of Robert Baratheon (New Labour) at the hand of the Lannisters there was a brief struggle for control of House Baratheon in which two brothers fought. Stannis (Ed) used a shadow baby to stab his brother Renly (David) in the back to take power and has since led an ineffectual fight against the Lannisters as he is a leader with no charisma.
 
The Lannisters needed an ally to control the North and despite being sworn enemies due to previous actions The Starks (Sansa) went into alliance with the Lannisters because they are a bit stupid and easily tricked and sold out their ideals for a sniff at power. Over the course of this 5 year relationship the Starks were used and abused.
 
North of the Wall (The Border) the separate clans were being united under Mance Rayder (Alex Salmond) in a fight for freedom. The initial rebellion was thwarted by the Nights Watch (Keep Britain United). Despite the loss of their leader The Free Folk of the North have united under the (SNP) Banner and have declared War on the Lannisters.
 
Unfortunately the Lannister used their usual tactic of fear to make those South of the Wall fear the Free Folks' influence and used this to consolidate power and remain on the throne.
 
Daenerys Targaryen (Greens) , despite the best intentions, continues to dither and look ineffectual. She keeps promising real Dragons (change) but everyone knows this will never come.
 
The Tyrells (UKIP) who have gained strong support despite being shit still have no real power and the head of the family has been sent off on his way.
 
So The Lannisters have kept power, most of the Starks are dead and The Baratheons will have to work with the United Free Folk to take on the Lannisters despite having a smaller army.
 
We'll find out in 5 years what happens next! Same amount of time till George R R Martin takes to get the next book finished!

I had a friend (bit of a dolt, obviously) who chucked a pile of rubbish into a sauna stove at a lake cottage, that included wet/ruined firecrackers, skyrockets, roman candles into the stove. Day after we're relaxing enjoying the sauna when rockets started shooting everywhere in a small enclosed space, some minor burns, but lucky nobody lost an eye. 50-year-old boys.

A 33-year-old Oklahoma man has been charged with killing his stepfather by giving him an atomic wedgie, that caused the victim to suffocate on his own underwear. He pleaded guilty on Monday to first-degree manslaughter. 
Brad Lee Davis was charged with murder in the death of 58-year-old Denver St. Clair in a drunken family fight at a residence just east of Oklahoma City, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office said in an arrest affidavit obtained on Wednesday. 
Police arrested Davis on Tuesday. The affidavit said he 'grabbed St. Clair's underwear and gave him an atomic wedgie. Davis allegedly pulled the elastic waistband of St. Clair's underwear over his head and around his neck.' 
An atomic wedgie is the slang name for an extreme version of the common underwear-yanking prank that bullies are known to use in schools across America. 
Oklahoma Medical Examiner spokeswoman Amy Elliott said the cause of death was asphyxiation and blunt force trauma after the elastic band was stretched too tightly over St. Clair's neck. 
Pottawatomie County Sheriff Deputy Travis Palmer said Davis and St. Clair were drinking beer on the night of December 21, 2014 at the older man's residence when St. Clair began speaking ill about his wife, who is Davis' mother. 
Davis told investigators the two fought because St. Clair was calling him and his mother worthless. St. Clair had filed for divorce in September, reports News Ok. 
Investigators said St. Clair's elastic waistband was stretched over his head and that it left ligature marks around his neck. 
Blood splatter was also found in the kitchen, the living room and on the living room ceiling. 
Davis was being held in Pottawatomie County without bond. His lawyer was not immediately available for comment. </blockquote>

For years Star Trek fans â€“ known as Trekkies â€“ have been the butt of jokes about their penchant for wearing pointy ears and attending science fiction conventions. 
But the police feared British fans of the cult American show might boldly go a little too far one day. 
It has emerged that Scotland Yard kept a secret dossier on Star Trek, The X-Files, and other US sci fi shows amid fears that British fans would go mad and kill themselves, turn against society or start a weird cult. 
The American TV shows Roswell and Dark Skies and the film The Lawnmower Man were also monitored to protect the country from rioting and cyber attacks. 
Special Branch was concerned that people hooked on such material could go into a frenzy triggered by the millennium leading to anarchy. 
An undated confidential report to the Metropolitan Police, thought to have been filed around 1998-99, listed concerns about conspiracy theorists who believed the end of the world was nigh. 
"Fuel is added to the fire by television dramas and feature films mostly produced in America," the report said. 
"These draw together the various strands of religion, UFOs, conspiracies, and mystic events and put them in an entertaining storyline.â€ 
It added: "Obviously this is not sinister in itself, what is of concern is the devotion certain groups and individuals ascribe to the contents of these programmes." 
The dossier â€“ called UFO New Religious Movements and the Millennium â€“ was drawn up in response to the 1997 mass suicide by 39 cultists in San Diego known as Heaven's Gate. The group members were "ardent followers of The X-Files and Star Trek" according to Special Branch. 
The secret briefing note was obtained from the Met under the Freedom of Information Act by Sheffield-based British X-Files expert Dr Dave Clarke while researching a new book, How UFOs Conquered the World. 
Dr Clarke, who teaches investigative journalism at Sheffield Hallam University, said: "The documents show the police and security services were concerned about the export of some new religious movements concerning UFOs and aliens from the USA in the aftermath of the mass suicide by followers of the Heaven's Gate. 
"It's no coincidence this occurred around 1997 â€“ which was the 50th anniversary of the birth of UFOs and the Roswell incident â€“ at a time when the net was buzzing with rumours about aliens and cover-ups.â€ 
A Met spokesman said: "We have no knowledge of this."</blockquote>
