Write the books you fat fück and let's find out what actually happens.
If what he's saying (that he's not working on the last two books simultaneously) is true, I reckon the odd that he finishes are probably less than one in twenty. He's nearly 71, it's eight years since the last book was published and there's no sign of Book 6 hitting the shelves any time soon. His writing pace has been slowing "exponentially" and not only age, but motivation are against him. The story has sort of been told - and he's doubtless reading everyone's criticism and thinking, "Yeah, I'll fix that in the book, and that, and that", so he's going to be even more distracted...while every year his pace slows further.
What will be interesting is hearing what he's got to say about this final series - whether he'll come out and say, great job or shit job (or whether he's contractually bound to say great job) and how much of a twist his main storyline is on what happens in the TV series. I can't really believe he's planning a completely different story, with a different winner. But, if he's deciding to try to change horses midstream, that will take him even longer!
What I'm pretty disappointed with in this series is how rushed everything has been. These guys are presumably making mega-bucks out of the whole thing, so wouldn't have been hard to spin things out across two series, with a lot more character and plot development. And they would presumably have made more money.
He's had heaps of time and it's bloody annoying when he's actually written other books and completed other projects. At the end of the day, people paid their money to buy his books with the expectation of a completed saga. He owes it to the fans who made this series a worldwide phenomenon to at least finish the damn books.
In terms of the actual ending, I assume that the end result will be largely the same but the road there will be vastly different. Stannis will probably be a much bigger player, Rickon will likely become Lord of Winterfell and the Blackfish will still be alive to do cool shit! It is also unlikely that the battle with the White Walkers will be decided by Ayra and her super set of plot armour.
He doesn't owe anybody anything. He's a writer, and he's put his content out there for people to enjoy.
Just because it's popular doesn't mean he shouldn't have a life, or be able to work on other projects. He's working on it, and it will be done when it's done.
I'm astonished people feel entitled to something they haven't paid for. Well, actually I'm not astonished anymore - look how people piss and moan when social media is taken from them.
So I haven't paid for the books? Or does that not count? But other than that it's exactly the same as social media.
You've paid for the books you've got. You haven't paid for the books he hasn't released. If you're complaining about the unwritten books, then it's exactly like social media - you have no entitlement.
Imagine for a second you watched John Wick and then found out the director and writer originally rough penned another two but decided for various reasons to do them when they could. Or episodes 1-3 of Star Wars...
That makes no sense. It's not about entitlement, it's about spending time and money on something in return for a series of books with an ending. Do you think people would have bought the books if Martin had said that he'd just go to 5 and then down pen? Of course not.
WTF? Did he write the first novel and tell everyone there'd definitely be another seven?
Wtf? The whole point is that the story is far from finished and another 2 books have been promised. Personally I'm not of the view that a reader is entitled, toxic and spoilt to expect a series to actually be finished.

@Virgil oh I didnt mind how she died so much, like you say how everything she had worked towards literally crashing down around her...just would have been more satisfying for someone to have shanked her, chopped her head off of something more fitting given how she ended so many's lives.

Emilia Clarke has to be congratulated on her acting too. If you have seen her as herself she couldn’t be more opposite to Dani. She’s dorky and joker like. Giggles like a teenage.
Yet put on the blond wig yell action and she’s transformed. The casting was mostly excellent. Stannis, Renly, Jorah and Ramsay look vastly different to how they're described in the books but the actors were great and Renly is essentially a different character in the series. Jorah's supposed to be a big, hairy bear of a man but I'm not sure if that would have worked on screen.
He's a very minor character but Lord Royce was a shit casting. He's supposed to be as tall as the Hound, but older and far more agreeable. Instead we get some old monk looking blob.

We already had a Hound.....and we had a wonderful Ser Jorah too ( I have never wanked on about him as much as other characters but by golly Iain Glen played the part well )....I miss them both.....( sniff )
Cercei and Dany are both played brilliantly too. Strangely I don't find either of them particularly hot in the slightest though. The ones who were sexy as all fuck ( Missandei, Melisandre, Margery, Shae and probably a few others ) are all dead.

I find it funny the people complaining how easy it was for Dani to wipe out the golden company. That they were an anti climax, yet she was criticised for not using her dragons to lay waste to the wights and wipe them out before they were a threat at Winterfell..

Why were the Golden Company outside the walls of the castle? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a castle?

@MN5 In the previous Ep they said half of Dothraki & Unsullied - looked like there were handfuls left but I guess they were on the other side of Winterfell...
Plus some left at Dragonstone I'd guess?

@Rancid-Schnitzel not a normal castle, most would not be able to fit 10s of thousands of soldiers inside thier walls (although somehow Winterfell did)...as @Machpants mentioned earlier, KL is a bit different though.
