I find it funny the people complaining how easy it was for Dani to wipe out the golden company. That they were an anti climax, yet she was criticised for not using her dragons to lay waste to the wights and wipe them out before they were a threat at Winterfell..

Why were the Golden Company outside the walls of the castle? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a castle?

@MN5 In the previous Ep they said half of Dothraki & Unsullied - looked like there were handfuls left but I guess they were on the other side of Winterfell...

Plus some left at Dragonstone I'd guess?

@Rancid-Schnitzel not a normal castle, most would not be able to fit 10s of thousands of soldiers inside thier walls (although somehow Winterfell did)...as @Machpants mentioned earlier, KL is a bit different though.

Don’t think the Golden Company was expecting to deal with the dragon. They would have assumed all the Scorpions and the Iron Fleet would take him down. They were only expecting a depleted northern force.
Not to be mowed down from behind with dragon fire.

KL is a city and would easily be able to fit that many troops. Winterfell is tiny in comparison.

It's just lazy writing again, like the Dothraki advancing into the abyss. I can appreciate the logistical challenges this show faces, but damn they started phoning the scripts in after they couldn't copy the fat man's homework anymore.

Btw could the Dothraki have been on Dragonstone for any length of time? What did they feed the horses?

Even with a depleted Northern force, I'm not sure if it's normal to just walk out to face them. They could rain death down from those walls.

The ballisters were also dramatically less effective. Glitch in the weapons system maybe.

Don't even start on logistics, where was the wood for all the insta-boats from the Greyjoys? The march from WF to KL is ~500 leagues, that's 2.5 months of walking at Roman Legion pace. etc

Magic, as someone wise once said!

Yeah clearly the Iron fleet went on the piss to celebrate shooting a dragon down last week and completely lost the ability to shoot straight the next day.....

Yeah it was a real piss take when they started teleporting these guys around Westeros at record speed. And then of course there was Roose Bolton marrying Sansa (wanted in KL for killing the King) to Ramsay with narry a murmur from Cersei and outraged Red Wedding Walder Frey being unmoved by his daughter and grandson being used as Pal puppy food. But they could get away with it because clearly not enough people cared. Fair enough I guess. Still disappointing, because the early seasons are probably the best TV series we're probably ever likely to see. Absolutely brilliant.
