Just finished Daredevil, really enjoyed it, were a few little things that I thought seemed odd given how in-tune he is with his surroundings, but otherwise cool series!

Thought Vincent D'Onofrio was excellent as Fisk!

I really liked it. It took a while to get me hooked, but I was probably being apprehensive as to where it was going style wise and it managed to largely avoid being corny.

Mad Men wrapped up so very, very well. The final fitted right in with the show both in terms of style and quality

I'm bummed that Mad Men has finished - I thought that the stories set up by the finale would make great seasons of TV.

TBH, I thought the finale was good in the most part, but:
The hippy stuff with Don was shit, Don's conversations with Betty and Peggy were awesome, and his meltdown by the phone was good - but all the other stuff was just a handbrake on the story. But I know why all that stuff needed to be included for the ending to pay off.
Game of Thrones: Since the religious stuff (in nearly all the different storylines) has taken over the show I've found the last two episodes pretty boring. Hopefully they can get things back on track in the next few episodes.
How disappointing that they have a wedding and no ones dies!
Arrow: I caught up on Arrow, was a pretty dark series, especially in comparison with the episodes of the Flash that I've seen.

Daredevil: Will give this another try after watching the pilot and thinking it was meh now that I've finished a bunch of other shows.
-
GoT: Ok episode but damn those Sand Snakes are shit. Looked like one of those fight scenes from that old Batman TV show.

Walking Dead: I am hooked. -

Ha, was thinking exactly the same thing!! So laboured and poorly choreographed.

I wonder what other stuff they have up thier sleeve to change, I see there has been alot of fallout over the final scene with Sansa.
-

The comments I read on FB were funny too...

There are a couple of other fairly significant events to happen (that I can remember) I wonder if they will happen the way things are changing. I'd assume Martin has had some alternate ideas about some things compared to his books so maybe this is part of his input.... -

Yeah I've now read a few blogs/recap pages where it's being discussed. What do they expect from GoT? What did they expect was going to happen? I hope those people never watch Oz, or even the Shawshank Redemption.
-

Compared to some of the prison scenes in SOA, young Sansa should be grateful her name isn't Otto or Juice. I can't recall hearing cries of outrage about the male rape scenes.

Speaking of SoA, the recent bikie shoot out in Waco reminded me of how unrealistic the show was and I noticed this

Nearly 200 people were under arrest yesterday following a brawl between rival motorcycle gangs that left nine people dead in Waco, Texas, and drew comparisons with the violent television series about bikers, Sons of Anarchy.

The fight broke out in the toilets at the Twin Peaks Sports Bar and Grill, and spilled into a parking ground as members of as many as five gangs fought with knives, chains and guns in front of terrified bystanders.

Families locked themselves in the restaurant as the violence flared outside.

"One hundred ninety-two individuals were arrested in reference to the Twin Peaks shooting," the Waco police department said.

"They will all face 'engaging in organised crime' charges."

The restaurant has been ordered to close for at least the next seven days.

Nine gang members were killed in the mayhem and local news outlets reported that as many as 18 people were wounded, most of them by gunshots or stabbings.

"In 34 years of law enforcement this is the most violent crime scene I have been involved in. There is blood everywhere," Sergeant Patrick Swanton told the Waco Tribune-Herald.

"This is one of the worst gun-fights we've ever had in the city limits. They started shooting at our officers."

Police fired their weapons to quell the melee. They said more than 100 weapons were collected from the chaotic and bloody scene.

Police had been aware of a planned biker gathering and intervened quickly, but not before the fist fight in the toilets spun out of control.

Swanton said the police had made their concerns known beforehand to Twin Peaks but the so-called "breastaurant" chain, known for its scantily clad waitresses, had not co-operated.

Among those arrested were bikers wearing insignia of the Cossacks, the Scimitars and the Bandidos.

Biker clubs sprang out of a US counterculture movement in the second half of the 20th century and some now have global affiliations.

Recognisable by their leather jackets bearing gang insignia, at base the groups are clubs for like-minded individuals who share a love of motorcycles and contempt for authority. But many group chapters - which elect their own leaders and have their own rules, symbols and initiation rules - are involved in organised crime.

In the US they are particularly associated with gun-running and drug-trafficking, and some biker clubs or their chapters have been designated "organised crime groups" by the FBI.

After seeing one of them partially naked in this weeks episode I can only assume you prefer males.

As for GoT, I'm officially bored with this season. No storyline seems to be going anywhere, all the boring characters are taking prominence, and this religious cult seems to have become all powerful overnight (with no ground work done to justify it).

I wish Mad Men hadn't finished even more now.
-

If I recall correctly, the final book is pretty much in this vane (right vane?) plus some of the storylines diversion from the books seem pointless, hopefully the next 2 main events from the book will help get some other stuff back on track.
-

I have no idea, I haven't read the books aside from 90% of Game of Thrones. As such I've always watched the show as it's own distinct entity so have never bothered where they differ from the books. Hopefully you're correct though and this season will turn around.

I think it's vein, not vane.
-

the books completely lost their way. Everyone good was killed or marginalised, and the story basically became a chore. There is some serious repair work needed in the next one if he is to hold my interest to the end. There is an interesting piece of fantasy there, he's just completely fucking ignored it for 3-4 books. Seriously you weird old fluffybunny, bring fucking winter already.

So i am not surprised the TV series is sliding, the source material does the same. I was hoping, when i heard they were going their own way, they would fix it. instead they have cut the most interesting character arc of the whole fucking series, and the only decent bit of the last book. What a waste.
-

yeah the epic amount of pages on
Stannis's epic journey to nowhere
was a pain. Hope they don't focus on that in the tv series.

Some good stuff ahead though, but I wonder how much the tv is wagging the books now...
-

then there is the whole storyline with
Samwell and his wildling bit as they crossed the narrow seas...boring story, and they havent even done it yet.

Danaerys needs to get her dragons sorted, marry Jon Snow (so he knows something) and bring some pain!!
I do wonder if GRRRRR had some of his own alternate plotlines that he has been sharing and the TV show are running with.
-

The fourth book lost its way but that was just because of the characters Martin focused on. I haven't seen any of this season yet but it is no surprise to me if it has been a bit boring. The fifth book was probably the best of all the books for me. Martin absolutely let the story sprawl and the plot of Game of Thrones seems well contained in comparison. I think you are just going to be disappointed if you are reading the books or watching the TV show and hoping for a definitive conclusion. I read a fantasy book or series for the journey - in that sense the books have been great.
