It constantly bemuses me that McCartney is often put down in favour of that (admittedly good muso but) pretty despicable person Lennon. Yeah, take that Lennon fanbois. ;)

Death was a big career move -

Pretty much what Macca said canefan.

For some reason that article wouldn't work for me, his music got really cheesy after the Beatles split but as Nepia points out Lennon was a pretty horrible person and undoubtedly a green voter.

Does the article explain why he married that loon a Heather Mills? I heard they split after he bought her a new artificial leg for Xmas and told her it was a stocking filler. -

Not sure if anybody caught the rather awesome Paul McCartney interview in Esquire last month. It's online, definitely worth a read, here's a nice sample:

By contrast, I listened to a podcast where Alec Baldwin interviewed Paul Simon (Called 'Here's the Thing') and it was like pulling teeth trying to get insight out of him.
-

Macca's name came up in relation to a small mining accident in the South African goldfields where there was a cave in. They eventually got the last guy out but he had had one leg crushed by the fall and was likely to lose his job. "Who would want a one legged gold-digger?" he asked.
-
