Watched Ghostbusters 1 & 2 with the boy in the weekend.
Just awesome. Plenty of great one liners, those guys were cool as fuck. And I have to say the FX are actually not too bad considering the first one was made in bloody 1984! The acting is so different in old movies like that as well, just seems more raw, like they do one take and then move on.
4.5 Slimers out of 5 Ectomobiles
It really is a travesty that they butchered the remake so badly, I just read that it lost $125 million - ouch!!

The original was close to perfection. The cast, the story, the mix of comedy and horror. I absolutely loved it as a kid and my boys are also big fans.
I couldn't even watch all of the remake. It was truly horrible. The worst possible way to reboot the Franchise. I cannot believe Sony genuinely believed this was the best way to maximize the value of this brand.
Same. Haven't watched Bond with them but Indy is a big favourite. I think I might also give those Cannon Ball run films a go. I remember them being pretty damn funny.

Bill Murray was fantastic as were the others at times but to me Ghostbusters hasn’t aged as well as other 80s flicks. @No-Quarter did you seriously think the sfx were ok even for 1984?

Well my expectations for the movies in general were incredibly low, I didn't think it was too bad at all. Wiki tells me it won an award for best visual effects as well.

@Bovidae plus van dams movies became even more amusing as his coke habit really kicked in. 80s and early 90s martial arts movies were dope as... just a wee bit gay also but hey! Something for everyone

Watched Spiderman.
Was bored at the teenager stuff early on, but understand why it was needed.
It's pretty good really. Perfect villain for a Spidey movie. Some cool effects and great locations.
Not as good as homecoming, but that's a pretty high bar. Holland is a great Spiderman.

Thought the first post-credits scene was naff, but I trust Marvel implicitly now.

But they are "Bond" movies....not "007" movies. They're also steadily declining in quality too if you ask me as inevitably happens. Could be a good chance to abandon the franchise.

Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker did a magnificent job even when the scripts and special FX were utter shite.
The snippets I've seen of Dr Who from the 80s onwards look pretty dire. I'm amazed it's still going.

The Billy Piper era was actually decent , the cgi was done by the same people that did postman pat. The last two doctors have been utterly shit .

We must be inferring different things then.
But they are "Bond" movies....not "007" movies. They're also steadily declining in quality too if you ask me as inevitably happens. Could be a good chance to abandon the franchise.
The reboot declined in quality but is still light years ahead of some of the campy 70s and 80s crap they threw out.
I'm perfectly happy for a kick arse female British spy movie to be made, but Bond and 007 exist in a narrow character area - the number belongs to him alone.
