When I talked about the Taranaki vs Auckland preseason game the other day I mentioned the Taranaki fullback Jason Potroz. Anyone know how old he is? Been in the squad for a couple of years now.

@Yeetyaah Must be about 27-28 years old. He played in the same Hurricanes schools team as players like Beauden Barrett, Codie Taylor, Lima Sopoaga, Brad Weber, Matt Proctor and Michael Allardice (to name a few).

@Stargazer Thanks for that. Was hoping for him to be younger and maybe develop into an SR player but might be too old for any real push.

I hear the East Coast is good for other recreational drugs assuming he's still off the drink ?

Just kidding, I hope he does well. Any kind of addiction is tough to deal with particularly in the public eye.

Nope. Judging by insta when the whole breakup happened and he left nevers seemed to slowly be back on the drink in France, Thailand then after games the last couple of weeks.

Not sure how many of these players are permanent foodbills. A few definitely are.

Blast from the past. I remember thinking he was a FAB at one point.

It looks like Junior Laloifi didn't make the cut. One of the few standouts for the Turbos last year. If he's not injured, another province who needs a winger/fullback should pick him up.

@Bovidae he won't be back this season. Ta$man had an offer on the table for Cameron Suafoa of Auckland to come down and cover lock this M10 season with an option for a full contract next season. Auckland 'convinced' him to stay.

I thought as much. With sports injuries, no news is usually bad news.

@KiwiMurph yea he went down for a day a couple of weeks ago. Auckland only put a contract together at literally the 11th hour when they found out Ta$man were keen on him.

A shame he didn't seem to step up for the MAB. Doesn't bode well for his future. I had high hopes for him but he's still relatively young so will probably improve.

Taleni Seu still on the long road to recovery from the same injury that has struck down Brodie Retallick
The latest injury will unfortunately keep Seu out of Waikato’s campaign for the year – which is a major disappointment, given it will be his first season with the province.

“It’s coming along well,” Seu said of his shoulder at the recent Mitre 10 Cup launch.

“It’s been about four months. I had surgery two months after I’d done it. I’ll be back playing in December.
