Been watching the release of the new Corvette c8
Never been a huge Corvette fan boy, but this car looks great, might be the first time I get a Chevy, but it won't hit show room floors till next year.
Not crazy horsepower, but sill a 0-60mph under 3 seconds is great for the money.I worked as a BMW salesman for a few years, and unless you get an M car with individual paint, I agree the colors are a bit uninspiring.

Beautiful cars those - my neighbour had one on loan whilst his RR Sport was being serviced. He called it the reverse tardis.

Haha. That is what I have called my RS4 for years. Looks big enough, but fits f' all in it and the back seats aren't for taller people. I usually frighten any passengers out of it anyway so works for me.

@Snowy You should try my S5 It's not so much a back seat as a convenient shelf for things like water bottles and other shit. Boot is actually reasonable - but the boot opening makes it impracticable .
All of which are actually positives. I don't want to share the car and there's plenty of room for me.
It's just a fucking nice car - who gives a shit about other people. It's also a V8 but I was going to hell anyway

it is a beautiful car. Not going to lie, it's very nice driving something of this quality. It's super comfortable. It has electronic and automatic everything. It's fucking powerful. And it handles like a dream. It also looks amazing.
But
In all reality it's a really nice station wagon. The drivers seat feels like a cockpit, which is cool, but hardly feels spacious. And while it's as i said, really nice to drive, it's hardly exciting. And if i was ever to spend this kind of money on a car (and shit, i would need my head read surely) i would buy something that fires up the blood a bit.
However the wife is already doing the numbers. She's mental.

Agree with your comments - that amount of cash has to really get you excited. We looked at them given that I am basically a farmer now and need a 4wd due to shitty roads / driveway, but the Quattro is so good, and copes so well that I just kept it.

Really shitty roads are the one drawback for me. Another few mm clearance at the front would make all the difference - I'm the car worth its arse sticking out when I park coz I can't clear a curb.
I did manage to take it up to Port Jackson in the summer but some of the creek crossings were a bit close your eyes and hope.

I had never really thought about it but I scraped the front air dam just trying to put it into a garage once and gave up, parked on the street. Have also taken it across the old causeway at Raglan with no problem.
They are renowned for it though, have just learnt to live with the minor issues compared to how good everything else is.

@Snowy I have an ABT modified job so 9 cm clearance at front which is insane. I hooked it the first time I parked in a car park.
Like you say you get used to it but very occasionally I find myself a metre out from the kerb and have to creep forward.
Most fun car I've ever owned though and the driver comfort is fantastic. The cockpit is just so clever. I don't pay for the fuel either which is a bonus.

I went to a Ferrari auction with a friend a couple of weeks back. A lot didn't sell, so I think the market has softened a bit.
Best value I think was a 2013 FF ex-owned by Jay Kay which barely broke 100k.

I am probably flirting dangerously with this category.....at the risk of sounding like a total piston wristed gibbon am seriously considering buying a Lambo. Specifically a Gallardo Spyder, used, 2007-2009 model with 20k-50k miles on the clock. Am aware the service costs will be eye-watering. Any petrolheads here got some advice on these?

A mate had a white 08 Spyder that I found extremely loud when the top was down. It was fun to be in no doubt about it. He let me drive it once and it was a definite rush getting up to 7K rpm.
He absolutely loved it and had very little complaints. The only thing he used to go on about wasn’t parts or servicing (he had budgeted for all that), but it was the poor customer service he got from the high and mighty dealer he bought it from.He now has a 2018 911 GT3 which is a phenomenal car. He hasn’t let me drive that one yet...

A mate of mine had a GT3RS. Bright purple, huge spoiler, just screamed "look at me". He had quite a garage, Boxster Spider, 911 4S, Audi R8 spyder. The GT3RS was the one that absolutely frightened him.

I've never understood the appeal of the GT2 / GT3 911's.
They are beautifully balanced cars in their natural form, and all that is being done is removing a lot of the comfort and drivability on the roads and adding 20-50k to the list price.
Caveat - never driven or been in one!
