Since the advance of Twitter, it's been pretty to hard to defend my "Kiwi's aren't as sensitive about the haka as is portrayed in media" stance ...

I'm actually leaning towards binning it these days myself.

At the risk of getting into the politics even while ignoring the politics forum and copping it from most posters on this thread. I find some of the thread outrage to be a bit hypocritical.

If we're happy for Lineker to say what he wants then shouldn't we be happy for anyone who has issue with what he says to say what they want? Even if you personally don't like what they're saying and it makes you physically sick?

I would certainly rather this wasn't a political discussion and lets be clear - it wasn't, until Campbell got involved.

Lineker doesn't like the haka. Says facing it would likely make him laugh (or something like that).

First one is his opinon - which last I knew, people were entitled to. Second one, he says can't see why not laugh. Well, it's a challenge right .. so surely people are entitled to view that challenge and respond accordingly.

Campbell could have been funnier by saying those that sack up and play the game don't tend to laugh, but keep rolling around like a sniper shot you when someone bumps into you.

At any rate I didn't say I agreed with Campbell or that I don't think his is an overreaction, but it's his reaction and as I said previously he's allowed to react to Linikers comments and express how he feels about them. I'm unsure why you're seeing a difference aside from the fact you appear to dislike Campbells comments.

I know some people who would actually be genuinely offended by Linekers comments despite the fact that you and I don't have an issue with them. I don't think we have the right to regulate how they react to it.

The funniest thing about it all is the tweet that @Bones posted - who would have thought Campbell and Piers Morgan would have been on the same side of this?

Quoted the part which is why I said what I did about the difference.

I'm not regulating anything btw - people are welcome to say / think what they want. I'm allowed to think it's off the scale ridiculous that one person who wants to laugh at the haka should be subjected to Campbell's diatribe of virtual signalling, offended on your behalf, Trudeau style bullshit. Especially the "English Whiteness" part. I then think it's even worse that this massively over the top howling causes Lineker to delete the tweet and backtrack.

WRT to Piers Morgan - he'll find any reason to have a pop at Lineker. They have some seriously barnies over twitter. In life, I think they are actually pretty good mates.
