Some of these posts should be in the 'Favourite Comedians' thread.

Both YC were a combination of dumb play and swinging arms.

If the ball carriers hadn't been dropping they both would have seen red.

You may not like it. You may not agree with it.

BUT THIS IS HOW THIS WC IS BEING REFEREED.

As I wrote yesterday, evolve or die.

Namibia were game and played some high tempo, inventive rugby fair play. They opened up the ABs defence quite easily at times, just didn't have the skill to finish their chances.

And the NZ covering defence was superb.

    That's your 9, 11, 13, 14 sorted as far as I'm concerned.

Mo' to 10, SBW to 12, BB to 15 with BFA to the wing or bench

I'd go with Ardie at 8, Cane at 7, Read at 6

No, they would have been perfectly normal tackles then, seen dozens of times in any game

Shag has already thought of how we can exploit the new rules. This is secret footage of contact training

Shag interview said it was just the wrong attitude in first half. ALB said the same thing post match. Funny how “Attitude” can have such a big impact on how a team performs. Shows how important the upstairs is, possibly why Ioane is slightly out of sorts.

Also shows how important the media manager’s job is and getting the talking points out as quickly as possible so everyone’s message is the same....

Swinging arm is swinging arm regardless of where it hits. See penalty against Tonga in Tonga v France match.

It hit the head, so YC.

I know you're invested in these two incidents but it isn't that hard to grasp.

The players have to use the arms to grapple only now, no swinging in the arms. Which is tough because it has been allowed since for ages

@MiketheSnow ‘But this is how the WC is being refereed,’ he said, as if that was the final arbiter in the matter, as if money and the market had no bearing on the outcome. I thought there was a fairly clear difference between the 2 YC's, and this game could have been used to create a proper line of judgement. While both incidents saw a similar attacking position, the 1st from Nepo had a clear swinging arm. I'm OK with a penalty, and as we all know, any time you give a away a penalty, you put yourself in the refs hands WRT a card. The 2nd incident though, I really didn't think Ofa swung the arm, and I didn't think it at all worthy of a penalty (let alone a card).

I would add that I have zero issue with contact to the head or neck when an attacker puts himself in that situation - why do we completely absolve the attacking player of their responsibilities? If you want to run that low at someone, the defender must have a right to try to stop you, and if you're leading with head, neck and shoulders, then that's what will get tackled first. Not with a swinging arm, but with a fierce brick fucking wall of arms, body, then shoulder.

If we let this shit continue, we will see Kees Meeuws come out of retirement and make a late run for AB's highest ever try scorer.

If my Aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. The discussion isn't whether hitting someone in the head becomes an instant YC according to the World Rugby matrix. It's what the player can do in the limited time available to mitigate against a player diving into the tackle.

Ofa lines him up to tackle him around the waist.

Once again; had the Namibian not dived so low into contact, the tackle would have been perfectly legitimate.

This isn't (or shouldn't) be difficult to understand.

@MiketheSnow and there you are. But don’t bother yourself with the effort of dealing with the argument. Just strike your weasel poses

And here come the insults right on cue.

How do you suggest the defender stop the attacking player when the attacker goes really low, close to the line, and he (the attacker) leads with his head and neck?

I was taught to 'tackle' the ball in those circumstances.

If the ball carrier is stretching out with the ball ahead of his head you aim for the arms and ball in an effort to dislodge it from the ball carrier's grasp forcing a knock on.

If the ball carrier has the ball tucked up against his chest or under his arm you aim for where the ball is in an effort to dislodge it from the ball carrier's grasp forcing a knock on.

Key from Shag there was the word unavoidable, basically it is a lottery to see whose team is fucked over.
