But has he tried the all important "my kid can draw that" test? Surely that will change his mind.

I must have a 10yo mentality. RP too cerebral for me.

Either that or there's a lack of red text in the current education system.

Already getting the facebook bombardment to spoil your voting papers as an act of defiance...Just waiting for the first numpty suggesting to do this because our troops died for our flag. Only a matter time sadly.

see I dont understand that logic, this part of the referendum has little to do with changing the flag, given there is supposedly a huge majority that dont want it changed, why do they feel the need to sabotage the democratic process, which is what our troops died fighting for, when all they need do is simply vote, or not (without the hyperbolic vitriol or sabotage) and then the huge majority will vote in the 2nd referendum and the status quo will remain.

I got my papers yesterday and left them open on the bench. Decided to do this properly as the second vote is the main one anyway and for all I know the flag I like the least could be the choice at that stage so I may as well have my say now.

Have been working backwards rather than try and rank them in one go. Picked an obvious 5 then later in the the 4.

Actually found it very handy to look at the brochure. The pics of each flag flying, hanging and on a backpack have really helped me see what looks good and what doesn't. The backpack one surprised me as I hadn't seen those before and it really showed what looked like a flag and what looked like a logo or looked awful.

Just filled out my form. That pamphlet with the flagpole/backpack/waving flag pics was very well done.

Red peak is still my hatiest flag, but have to say the bicep flexing octopus is a close second.

Are you better off limiting your choices ? So if I don't put the proctologists finger and red peak they get no points towards preferences?

Funny how someone can make you dislike something even more. Red peak was also my hatiest but for some reason fighting octopus became second favourite.

In typical hooroo fashion I didn't read the instructions. Is your favourite flag to have number 1 and hatiest number 5? Or vice versa?

1 for love the most, 5 cos you'd rather set fire to your own hair than see it as the NZ flag.

Sweet! Thank goodness as true-love told me to do hers too. Would have been disappointed if I'd just voted for red peak

I've been doing a lot of walking lately and have the opportunity to see all the flags flying on various properties.

Have to say the current one probably looks the most like a flag. RP the least.

Blue black doesn't look great IMO - the blue and black don't contrast enough. Although it is probably my preference now that I've seen the pamphlet. I totally agree with whoever said the backpack images clearly show which are brands

My issue is the Lockwood fern. I just don't like it.

I've had a few people on facebook throw up photos of the blue/red Lockwood flag next to some New Zealand lamb in a butchery in Abu Dhabi or some such place, of course the discourse that follows that is that the flag has already been changed and the referendum is just a sham...I've very kindly pointed out a plausible explanation but we all know how those folk go with facts, proof and common sense.

Does anyone else get this level of retard on facebook? Is it new phenomenon or is it local to New Zealand? I never really noticed anything like that when based in the UK. Really has me looking at certain friends and acquaintances in a horrible new light.

I have seen plenty of those, as well as the meme with a pic of the flag and Key, and the words don't change this (under the flag) change this (under Key)

I tend to avoid these kinds of discussions on FB...I made a simple fact based comment a little while back on my kids school page about a change they were making, and the due I was correcting tried to engage me in a discussion about the merits of the change and all sorts, which made it even clearer he hadn't read the news letter, nor did he know jack from jill!

So each response I merely pointed back to the original question he asked, and that it might be a good idea if he went in and spoke to the school...2 weeks later he posted that he had been in to the school and now thought they were awesome!

The worst bit about people like him, is they have kids!
