Movie review thread...

I actually enjoyed "Into the Wild" it was an interesting story, told well (ok the constant jumping around in time was hard to keep track of sometimes), and it raised some interesting points about escapism, and modern life. I just wasn't as taken with the main character as the director obviously was, and i found myself less saddened by his end, than the feelings of all those people in his life.

Also, god help me, i think there is something wrong with me. First my admission that i find Kidman attractive, and now i have to admit if find Kristen Stewart, in all her sullen, wooden, emotionless-ness, fucking sexy. And i think she was only 16-17 in this movie, which also puts me on some sort of watchlist.
-
Jurassic World was crud.

Good movies of 2015:
Ex Machina
Mad Max
Straight Outta Compton
Sicario
Black Mass
Slow West

Probably good but haven't seen yet:
The Martian
Hateful Eight
Creed
Heart of the Sea -
Mad Max was surely a movie that left you thinking ..WTF is this! Cracking movie and I've enjoyed watching it a couple times since, recommend checking out the behind the scenes too
Jurassic World was cool too I thought, Chris Pratt has certainly made some very very good career choices ( Guardians of the Galaxy is another recent fav) -
I find it hard to feel sorry for anyone who changes their name to supertramp, having said that it was a decent story. He wasn't that far from the road, how far can you drag a bus? And he didn't even have decent boots, a truck driver forced him to take his spare pair. Interesting that the old guy decided to take to the road and lead a similar life , hope it worked out better for him.

Re deep throat , I watched part of that a while ago and it was pretty gross I thought. The women were heinous and it was obviously a more hirsute time, apparently it was shown at mainstream movie theatres when it was released. I can't imagine how foul that collection of munters bumping uglies looked on a big screen. -

yea, I'm gutted i missed Mad Max

Well no. And let's all take a moment to appreciate the sheer magnificence of it.

Do you by any chance have a raccoon firing a machine gun gif? -

Don't they have adult movies playing at some cinemas in the US or is that a movie lie? -
I'm guessing but they probably only show smut films, deep throat was mainstream for a brief time https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Throat_(film) -

Sam Fuller was a talented director, so there were some good scenes in Pickup on South Street, but good lord that was a terrible movie.

"This is the biggest espionage case since Stalin and the A-Bomb, so the one thing we won't do is maintain surveillance on the guy we know has the microfiche."

I did enjoy the criminal mastermind old biddy going defiantly to her grave with lips sealed, but explaining herself with "Commies, I don't know, I just don't like 'em."

She never did get her preferred cemetery plot.

My favourite Sam Fuller film would be big red one, it's semi autobiographical . Some of the background scenes are a bit foley by today's standards but that from that I reckon it holds up well. -

Watched Ant-man over the weekend and whilst it isn't any great masterpiece... It was really good escapist entertainment!

The lead actor, Paul Rudd is very likeable and it had enough humour and action to make it a short 110 minutes of viewing.
