We're not out of the game by any stretch. Losing Kane was a blow but we've got plenty of batting. If Ross can score big we are right in the contest. Big day for the Caps tomorrow, the whole series rests in it.

    Yeah nah.

We won't win, we basically gave that option away when we chose to bowl. But it's a flat pitch and we have a lot of quality players, we should be backing ourselves to get the draw out of this.

Yeah - we've got 18 wickets in hand and we need to bat for two and a bit days.

Dig in for the first session today - blunt the Aussie quicks a bit and we're a decent shot at a draw.

Lose 3+ wickets and we're staring 2-0 in the face.

When was the last time we did that? More specifically in Aus?

First time in a while I've doubted young Kane. I can forgive his shot, just, with a bit of mental manipulation, but bowling Blundell after lunch had an odour of white flag about it.

More of a prayer than a plan and 3 overs for a net bowler at a crucial restart is as unfathomable as it is unforgivable.

Blundell must have been something that was discussed at lunch, so Stead has surely got to be partially culpable for that decision. Agree it was a pretty strange choice - sort of like having a decent fourth grade club spinner bowl a few test overs and hope he'll snaffle a wicket. A bit desperate.

    Rossco's done it before 😏

Yeah, realised that. I just don't think that we have ever been particularly good batting for time - with the odd exception. Graetbatch, Rossco, can't think of too many others.

Stead isn't a patch on Mike Hesson. Never thought I'd say something like that in Hesson's early days. And Kane isn't the strong leader that McCullum was. Having said that, man for man we are simply not good enough. The only player who has enhanced his reputation so far is Wags

The height is what sets these guys apart. Really hard to get forward properly.

Well I thought that I would be free from watching cricket tomorrow, looks like I might have to do something else this afternoon too (if they enforce the follow on).

46/4 is exactly the kind of scorecard BJ likes to walk out to. It's all part of the plan.

Great to see Smith drop a catch. That's a positive. Also Davey didn't score any runs again. Good test so far overall.

The Black Cap senior players talked well about wanting to play in a MCG Boxing Day test. But other than Wagner, none have fronted when it counted.

I think Mr Gregan might say something like "32 more years" after this.

Height combined with pace and accuracy. These guys are faster versions of McGrath.

We've never had a really tall genuine fast bowler and the Aussies have at least five of them right now. Billy Stanlake doesn't get a look in.

What I can't understand though is whey'd play three of these guys - surely they should play Siddle for the variation. SURELY... 🙂
