Just saw Zhang open work out pad work. JJ is getting slept.

    I hope you're wrong, but I think you're right

Zhang will be champ for a long time

Zhang looked drained after the face off. I saw just now she's still cutting weight.

That's enough for me to put a sneaky $20 on JJ for KO/TKO or SUB

I'm starting to lean this way too.. and JJ is looking the best she has for years

I was surprised at how big Adesanya looked next to Romero too

Well that's easily the best womens MMA fight I've seen. Joanna is tough.. could anyone else take those punches??
Her face is a mess right now

She had plenty of success, a razor thin decision again

The finish of the Dariush fight was amazing too

Great card already. Now it's time for Izzy...

..and the main event didn't deliver

The tone was set by Romero standing still for the first minute of the fight

Adesanya won relatively comfortably by just throwing a modest amount of volume from distance. Good legs kicks though.

            Romero's 10 second bursts didn't achieve much

Adesanya is already unpopular in the US. This won't help

@Duluth That's the first Izzy fight I've seen. Just from the highlights of his next opponent you'd think he'd be in trouble, that a fair assessment or can he do the work up close as well?

People expected fireworks and instead got a boring fight where neither fighter engaged much. Both fighters were looking for the counter and since neither fighter really engaged, it never got going. Typical flush the dunny performance, Izzy did what he felt he needed to do but he won't win any fans on that performance.

Yeah very weird fight but you got the feeling it was gonna be after Romero took to a standing fetal position for the first minute or so. Izzy did what he had to do and nothing more.

Kind of reminded me of the blues win last night. Take the win and move on...

The women’s fight before it was amazing

O’Malley looked great after a long lay off. He’s going to make a run at the title and it’s going to be fun.

Zhang and Joanna was a fight for the ages. Not just as a woman’s fight but for all mma fights. It was amazing. If Joanna had won no one, who understands and loves mma, would have been disappointed. But fuck me with the braids and that haematoma Joanna initially looked like a klingon and by the final round she looked like Grendal from the CGI Beowulf movie from a few years ago.

Izzy was smart and stayed out of the way. That’s not running. Especially when Romero has a leg that looked like tenderised steak. Yoel is a strange guy. World class wrestler that doesn’t wrestle. So when your other weapons are counter striking and that’s not working for you, you would expect him to attempt to wrestle. But aside from 1 ineffective take down and one stuffed take down Yoel fought like an idiot. I thought, at first, he’s very smart. Doing nothing but stand with his guard up for the first round. No energy exerted, now it’s a 4 round fight. But he did that for the whole fucking fight.

Then to bitch about it after the fact and lay the blame at Izzy?! He was beaten because he did fuck all. I can’t believe the shit I’ve read on Instagram. People saying he was robbed and he fought the perfect fight. Other saying this was the worst title fight ever. Silva vs Maia was the worst title fight I have seen but then the casuals complaining about this fight have no idea who Silva or Maia are.

The one take away I got was that Costa has been eating way too much coxhina. He looked fat and seemed to be wearing lippy.

He's had some success with it before, shortening the fight, avoiding his cardio issues and impatient fighters have walked into his punching range.

It was clear early that Israel was content to stand outside punching range and throw kicks. Now what? Romero had zero path to victory when the fight settled into that pattern.

I was shocked Yoel didn't change anything. 42 years old, last chance of winning the belt and he let it drift towards a dull points loss

Apparently there's a virus going around..

                                • The Brazil event (Lee v Oliveira) this weekend will have no crowd
                                • The London event (Woodley v Edwards 21st March) is going ahead as planned.
                                • Ngannou v Rozenstruik (28th March) is moved from Ohio to the UFC octagon in Vegas where they filmed ultimate fighter etc.. so no crowd
                                • Overeem v Harris (Portland 11th April) is also rumoured to be moving to the Vegas octagon

The cursed fight - Khabib v Ferguson is on April 18th in Brooklyn. This is the 4th time the fight has been scheduled. A ppv with no crowd?

The UFC can't move events to Las Vegas now because of the Nevada commission. Also the Fight in London can't happen there because of the USA travel restrictions

White claims everything is going ahead, they are just looking for new venues

It's different than team sports I guess..

The fights in Brasilia today had no crowds but were still good viewing on TV

Also ESPN is obviously very keen to still have some live sport. Their website etc was covered in UFC coverage today

I enjoyed the card and honestly didn’t miss the crowd ambience as much as I thought I would.

UFC being praised by many for keeping the fights going. They could probably sell UFC 249 for $10 a pop and makes billions right now. No other sport to watch.

Yeah I was surprised at how little it mattered.

Shame I didn’t manage to hear ufc matchmaker Mick Maynard
