    Has anyone seen The Wire?

    Just jokes I know who has and who hasn't..anyway I just finished it for the 4th time and daaaaaaaamn it is still awesome. Made my Mrs watch it, no phones allowed and in the past I said it takes 4 episodes to get into it..nah thats not enough, its at least 8. She didn't have a clue what was going on for a while, couldn't even understand the dialogue, on the one had you got ghetto street slang and on the other you have cop talk. By the end of the first season she finally clicked and loved it, even shed a few tears in parts.

    So yeah, if you're quarantined and have some time on your hands there is 5 seasons of awesomeness awaiting.

    I still have 4 seasons left of this...def need to get back into it!

    @Nepia Thanks for the info. I've never watched it before but I don't mind procedurals as I was a big fan of Law & Order.

    Back in the day I could watch procedurals but since we've had peak tv I can't do it. Josh Whedon and Shawn Ryan (showrunner of The Shield) were a wee bit ahead of their time in and often had to do first seasons of procedurals to get their show on the air, before going full steam ahead with their narrative shows.

    @Rembrandt by the same token I'm sitting down to watch Justified again this weekend, this time with Bonesetta. No phones is a great idea!

    Thanks for the reminder on this. It was a show I kept reading good things about but the combination of platform and other shows meant I fell behind and couldn’t be bothered binging to catch up.
    Found all the series on amazon yesterday and hooked fast.
    My only problem is that I was a big fan of Santa Clarita Diet and keep seeing similarities in the character (especially that shit eating grin).
    Top show though, glad I read your post.

    @Crucial choice! I tried SCD for an episode but just didn't "get" it. Comedy though right? Yeah might be hard to gel with Goggins' character too if you've seen him elsewhere (SOA).

    Regarding Tim Olyphant, I watched Justified before watching Deadwood. I have heard good things about SCD.

    He is going to be in S4 of Fargo.

    I tried 4 or 5 eps of The Wire, wasn't for me

    Had a look at Black Monday with Don Cheadle, only watched 1 so far but seems like it might be kinda Wolf of Wall Street without Margot.

    Probably best to ask this here as more likely if others have noticed.

    Has anyone else had an issue with VPN speeds in the last day or so?
    Doesn’t matter what VPN I use but things have slowed to a crawl. I suspect ISP activity/throttling. They can’t see what you are doing on a VPN but can work out that you are using one.
    It would make a bit of sense if they were trying to save bandwidth for work from home use but surely many workers are being asked to connect to work via VPN anyway.

    Do not listen to this @mariner4life

    The Wire might be the best show on tv, ever.

    I’m struggling to think of a series I’ll happily re-watch multiple times, apart from the Wire or Band of Brothers.

    Duckman is 26 years old this year, and I have started watching the complete series again. It is amazing that back in the mid 90's something like this was commissioned and broadcast (on pay tv), and that it lasted 4 seasons.

    This is the role that Jason Alexander was meant for, starting this mid Seinfeld run. So angry and deviant.

    *edit, shit, posted to the wrong thread. Could a mod please move this to the TV Series thread

    Done now - just doing some catch up on old threads and saw this.

    @antipodean I've got one sitting on the sky box, a four parter (I think) called Mind Games, "A compelling exploration of the mental side of cricket".

    Broadcast here by sky sports cricket so not sure where else it would be available.

    @Bovidae @Bones I finished The Outsider, thought they finished it about as well as they could.

    Overall good series, quality of eps was a bit up and down though with a couple of the ones about 3-5 IIRC slow and IMO needlessly drawn out, last 3 were pretty well up there though.

    Ep 2 of Westworld last night. Maeve is my favourite host so I liked the episode. Plenty to think about regarding what is real and what is a simulation in the current version of Westworld. One question from the last episode of S2 was answered, but we still don't know who the other 4 hosts are.

    :::

    I'm guessing Abernathy is one of them, possibly in Charlotte.

    :::

    Plus we had a reference to another HBO show.

    @Bovidae pretty good ep, gave a bit more insight into the worlds.

    Yeah the crossover was pretty obvious, they also had the writers form that involved too.
