@Machpants The Guardian seems more upset he used homophobic language than kicked a man to death at a wedding reception.

The ever trustworthy Herald suggests Fiji will have the deciding vote, and haven't decided how to cast it.

This election probably has more potential to affect the global game than most other stuff at the moment - I don't know enough to be well informed, but the media seem to be telling me that I should be supporting the greasy argie, rather than the gin swilling pom (see Guardian- racist offensive language!)

Also, still chortling about the Cliff Curtis line from above 🙂

    you're not wrong.

Francis Kean, the chairman of the Fiji Rugby Union and a key supporter of Bill Beaumont’s bid for re-election as World Rugby’s chairman, has stood down from the global governing body’s council amid allegations of homophobia and discrimination.
oh yeah, and he also killed someone once

This represents the modern world media in a nutshell. Racism, homophobia and sexism is worse optics than killing someone.

Edit: changed 'world' to 'media'. Real world doesn't always have the same values.

They all knew already about kicking the guy to death. And he has 'done his time' - well at least done enough that his bro in law was happy! Whereas the homophobic thing was not a known issue with WR. That's how I read it.

Imagine the righteousness when they find out he also has unpaid parking fines.

I'm sure when he explains his difficult childhood in which he was occasionally given a smack on the backside, all will be forgiven...

    Love this from Impey.

Didn't see the Reason whinge piece but reckon you can get the gist from this response.

(Will change the thread title slightly.)

Impey wrote a similar letter about Reason back in 2018 which ended with:

I don't expect any apology or correction, as it would mean nothing coming from Mr Reason

Ireland and Wales could be about to join the Pichot train. A pity someone isn't running against Laporte.

@Bovidae I haven't been following closely but knowing the very little I know about Pichot and his foreign players line, that's extremely surprising!

@Bones It could be BS. But the Paddies could be holding a grudge, and Pichot didn't cost them a RWC hosting.

Unless SA jump ship the vote is going to be SH vs NH so that tells you where we are at. It will be World Rugby in name only.
