Big duds have been the Chiefs. I blame Gatland. Apart from that Super Rugby Aotearoa has been 🔥.

Surprised and pleased that Hurricanes are still contenders at this stage of the competition.

        yeah, good one

        A team that isn't winning, but has losing margins of 1, 12, 5, 7, 2, & 4 aren't contributing to a good set of games

        uppercut yourself

I see @mariner4life has beat me to it, but they are not as bad as the record suggests. May yet tip up a contender...

@mariner4life agreed, our two games against the chiefs have been epic and both decided by tiny details

In the defence of the chiefs...to have no Brodie Retallick ,Tyler Adron and Micheal Allardice ..in the middle row, and to ask loose Forward type locks Who looked no taller than Sam Cane and a rookie in Vaai..to patch that area is a massive ask in anybody’s book...
I have sympathy, but on saying that ,it comes back to the coaches who select the squad..there were some really good locks omitted from super rugby that are genuine lineout ball winners ..Sam Caird ,Geoff Cridge and Tom Parsons come to mind ..

there was a shot from the sideline of the Chiefs scrum after Thomson came on yesterday. The flankers and locks were all the same height.

Missing 2 AB props also hasn't helped. What should have been a strength hasn't panned out that way.

They've been averse to selecting specialist locks in their squads for a few seasons now. Almost specialising in converting loose forwards.

@mariner4life Lots of people before the tournament tipped the Chiefs to win, there was lota of hype about them, most people thought they'd outperform the Hurricanes and the Highlanders, on paper their squad looks great. They haven't met pre-season expectations. That was my point.

Chiefs pre lockdown were 4-2 with wins over the Crusaders and Blues. Losing Allardice and McWhannell combined with Brodie's holiday and Ardons "early" departure (only early due to lockdown) means they have had throw in rookies and loose forwards into their second row. Seeing Cane not confident in the scrum due to 38 year old Thomson packing down was depressing, in a normal situation they may have scored off the scrum (Blues were a man down).

For those wanting a good rundown of how their team is shaping up for 2021 have a look at this page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_2020–21_Super_Rugby_transfers_(New_Zealand)

Ironically it's Wikipedia but it provides a respectable list of player movements.
