Pretty much the right decision in the main event. But although there was an eye poke, pretty classless of DC to just fuck off out of the ring.

It’s weird because he gave credit to Stipe in the post fight. But losing DC has always been a pretty cringey DC.

    @raznomore

Maybe he was asked to rush to the interview? It didn't look good though

Stipe with a smart fight - wrist control in the clinch, a good amount of body work. He seemed to up the pace in the last minute of most rounds. Shame about the eye but Stipe was already taking control by then

    Unfortunate injury in the co-main

      Great night of fights again.

Watching JDS is like watching Arlovski (my fave heavyweight). Great technical skill, fitness and ring smarts.

But the punches don't quite have the same snap, and overall not as durable as in previous fights.

One lapse of concentration / over extending and it's all over.

Tough luck for Suga. But Vera didn't look overawed. Will be a good rematch.

Stipe outhought and outfought DC despite the eye poke.

      Stipe won't beat Ngannou again.

      John Jones who knows.

It'll take some time to gain the weight. So Miocic v Ngannou and the winner fights Jones?

I presume Reyes v Blachowicz will be for the LHW title now

Four Kiwis on the UFC 253 card

No location confirmed but rumoured to be Abu Dhabi. Thats good news for Adesanya, the smaller apex cage would've helped Costa

@Duluth I'm obviously excited about the main event and the fact there are 4 kiwis on the card but I'm really looking forward to seeing Brad Ridell fight again. He had a tough as teak Aussie(whose name I can not remember) that refused to be KO'd 2 fights back and then a really contentious one against Mustafaev. I think he won that one fairly, after rewatching a couple of times. But the guy is an entertainer. I hope he makes a deep run in the UFC.

                UFC VEGAS 7

                Fantastic night of action

Comeback of the Year from Trevin Jones to TKO the much fancied Timur Valiev

Close contender to Comeback of the Year, Daniel Rodriguez KO against Dwight Grant

Highly skilled and patient win for Solecki

                Great finish from Mike Rodriguez

Still plenty of life in Frankie Edgar

A little slap at the weigh in:

Gets you a real slap in the fight

Pereira looked bloody good in that fight. Even ignoring the clowning the striking was so accurate and he kept the pace up all the way through

Yeah was a very good day of fights. Main event could have gone either way. I wanted Hill to win but she let it go to the cards. 2 fights she could have been awarded in a row.

I had a look at the Bellator fights today and I have to say, I was pretty impressed. Didn’t know any of the fighters that well of the fights I watched but it was high level stuff.

UFC 253 - the travel for the kiwi fighters is a little awkward. The UFC was concerned about travel options from NZ to Abu Dhabi. So they asked them to fly to Vegas first and then they'll take the charter flight with the other fighters

So two long flights and the first one is a week earlier than normal

Also the UFC asked CKB to prepare two extra fighters - Blood Diamond and Carlos Ulberg. They might get called up if there's any positive covid tests/injuries.
There's five shows in a row at fight island so I guess they'll stay around after 253

UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley - this was a big deal 2 years ago but not so much now.

Covington vs Woodley - Covington by UD or late stoppage. Woodley doesn't bang anymore.

Cerrone vs Price - Cerrone 2nd TKO
Chimaev vs Meerschaert - Chimaev Submission
Walker vs Spann - Walker 2nd TKO
Dern vs Markos - Markos UD or Dern Sub within 2
Holland vs Stewart - no idea

Agree on the main event. I don't think Woodley can turn around the decline. Covington won't finish him but it should be comfortable

Price to KO Cerrone. I think he's done. Potentially his last fight too? (White made it clear in the media that Cerrone has to win)

@Duluth there’s not a lot you can take as fact from Covington and his corner. But they were talking this week about him not being a natural Southpaw and have switched stance. They are claiming he is now a power puncher.

It appears the UFC commentators owe Tognoni an apology

The rules in Nevada changed in 2019. A timeout is now allowed for video replay. They kept quoting the rule on the use of video replay on a fight ending sequence
