Oh and the regular Hugh Jackman/Wolverine references were funny as fuck. Particularly the mask scene at the end.

    The Hunger Games

I previously thought (perhaps very unfairly) that this was Twilight-style chick lit but I really quite enjoyed it. If have a complaint it's when the actual competition started. I don't get how you can suddenly have a 6-man alliance in a competition where the objective is to kill everyone. It's not Survivor or the Royal Rumble. That Katness hardly smashed the comp either. That little black girl saved her life then the other chick decided to have a little rant instead of just killing her.

But yeah, am now looking forward to watching the other films.

Catching Fire is quite good. Enjoyed that.

The Mockingjay x 2 ultimately disappoints

Out of curiosity I read all the books, weren't bad. But the whole Katniss being used as a symbol etc was a weird choice.
Rancid 'Catching Fire' is probably the best of the series.

Just went in a weird direction, it could have and should have been on a similar direction to Lord of the Rings. As in big big action, massive conclusion all bets off etc.

Instead shes off with a handfull of camera men, director and a couple of friends. Little mission etc.

Maybe because it was all written by a chick?

If you get a chance, check out the making of the film. Awesome to see how much trouble they went to using real effects and props etc as opposed to the shitty cgi you see today in most films.

I didn't really enjoy it that much , the effects and cars are awesome though. It reminded me a lot of the 300.

Also Megan Gale is naked and there's no close up? Shame on you George Miller, shame.

I think he was really really disappointed with the lack of a close up.

I was hoping you'd pick up on that. I'm very subtle.

It's not overly hard to find photos of Megan Gale in the buff, but yea, i thought that was rude as well.

I found it hard not to enjoy. Plot? development? pah! weird looking fluffybunnies in frankensteined-up murdermobiles trying to straight-up execute each other, for 2 hours? What's not to enjoy?

I felt the same - I actually work with a bunch of people who either worked on the original trilogy, know George Miller, or know people involved in the effects companies so I keep relatively quiet about my thoughts on it - yay for the Fern for venting opportunities!

The trailers left me cold and that didn't really change too much for me. I'd categorise it as style over substance, and it was the style that put me off.

Megan Gale - good Maori girl ;).

I thought MM Fury Road was a bit average...first 40 mins were pretty cool, then the next 2 hours seemed like much of the same...yeah was some good scenery in it though.

Kinda like when TR Jnr says something funny, it gets boring the next 3 times he tells me expecting me to laugh again...

Anyone seen the new Ghost Busters trailer? I'm all for films with smart, kick ass women, but whytf would you use Ghost Busters as the vehicle for that? It's just plain weird.
