@Crucial id be more inclined to start Goodhue with Ioane on the wing, moving in later when you bring on Clarke

Backward move in Roane's development. Sure he can cover the wing but I think that they have to fully invest in him at 13.
Imagine what his mind will go through after putting in all this effort and performance at 13, getting selected because of it and then not being trusted.
Also the guys in the squad selected as wings will be confused why a centre was picked ahead of them.

I'm sure he's had no guarantees at centre, I'd rather have the most firepower on the field, Roane on the wing does that IMHO.

My team, since we're selecting our preferred teams:

Moody, Coles, Laulala, S Whitelock, Tuipulotu, Aoane, Cane, Sotutu, A Smith, Mo'unga, Roane, ALB, Goodhue, Clarke, B Barrett.

Subs: Taylor, Karl T, Ofa T, Vaa'i, A Savea, TJP, Jordan, J Barrett.

Still can't bring myself to pick the Tongan from the Invitational Chequebook XV over a NZer.

Two outside backs reserves looks a bit weird, but Roane covers the midfield (and JB can too which will have his fluffers reaching for the lube and tissues) and BB covers 10.

    Upvote

Cullen, Wilson, Lomu, Umaga....all that firepower.

We're not suggesting playing BB at centre.

Just the obvious example of shoehorning that didn't work. Roane has played 13 all year. Let's chuck him on the wing simply because he's a good player, not necessarily because he is our best winger.

Playing ALB at 2nd 5/8, Goodhue at centre and Reiko on the wing is hardly fucking shoehorning.

All in the position they've played most of their rugby until this year, and all in their position that will provide most benefit for the team.

Shift Roane to centre and you get a compromise at wing.

Shift Goodhue to 12 and we really compromise 12.

Yes, Roane is excellent at 13. But so is JG.

Roane was the best wing in the world for probably two years, not someone who hasn't played there since his schoolboys days.

Where's the evidence that he is still a test force on the wing? He fizzled and struggled for form IIRC

Injured dude. If he had that form this year he'd have looked awful at centre too.

Edit: are you saying somebody who is a fantastic centre could not make a fist of wing?

People picking Roane to start on the wing and move into centre are people looking for ways to lose. Would be a defensive catastrophe. If he starts on the wing he stays there unless we're up by a gazillion.

Like @Sparky's team, best balance in the backs although I can't really see Reece not getting a start.

Here are my selections, I wouldn't mind seeing Fozzie select based on a mobility up front rather than the same ole same ole. We need to finish fast and strong.

Who needs lineouts when Jordie can go for a quick throw in, and we all know how they turn out.

I'm not moving him. He can cover centre if Jack falls over only.

                          Ermmm....that's moving him.

Only if necessary. Which could apply to any position in the event of injury.

I liked it. By losing all the linouts with our dwarf 6/7 combo, we avoid D-Mac getting any ball to mess up

Good God man. They’re hardly George Smith and Phil Waugh

                                        In front of Tu'inukuafe?

For sure, Karl T is a good scrummager but is poor around the field. Was blowing during Mitre 10, the Test will be too fast paced for him.

People picking Roane to start on the wing and move into centre are people looking for ways to lose. Would be a defensive catastrophe. If he starts on the wing he stays there unless we're up by a gazillion.

Like @Sparky's team, best balance in the backs although I can't really see Reece not getting a start.

I'm not moving him. He can cover centre if Jack falls over only.

                                          Ermmm....that's moving him.

Only if necessary. Which could apply to any position in the event of injury.

Much better to have someone coming on at centre and him shift to wing than the other way around.
