Will be the same for me here in der Schweiz. I don't think kiwis at home realise how appealing the Lockwood flag is to foreigners.

19/20 voted for the other Lockwood in my work poll before referendum 1.

I think that looks mint! As I said in this thread, this flag looks much better 'flying' or in action than as a graphic!

My colleague said her son (admittedly too young to vote) came home from school with a strong opinion on why we should keep our current flag, talking about our history etc. Influenced by his teachers views.

Both my kids (10 and 7) like the new design...from what I gather, both of their teachers have tried to remain impartial in the discussions they have had at school over it, which is interesting given some of the other topical 'political views' I had heard my kids come home with!

I haven't expressed to them which flag I preferred, even my wife when she voted earlier in the week asked which I was voting for.

Imagine handing out green peace pamphlets for them to take home and teaching the The Internationale to sing.

You've got to start them young, my sons been referring to people like the tppa protesters as ferals for a few years now and he's 13 . I've still got a bit of work to rounding out his world view but suffice to say any leftard teacher trying to spout some pro disease bullshit or pinko nonsense is going to have their work cut out for them.

I got approached by a Greenpeace collector outside Countdown on the weekend. I said no thanks and then asked why she was wasting her time collecting for a large corporation when she could have been helping in a hospice or collecting for child cancer? Was it all about image for her?

She wasnt very happy, and to be fair.. I was a bit rude in doing that. But .. meh.. I am getting old and more curmudgeonly

I think Greenpeace contracts out their collecting and those people are actually being paid commissions for signups. More likely to be desperate students and people willing to do anything for a promise of potential money so don't be too harsh on them. They are unlikely to actually believe in the cause.

If you travel to work by train in Welly there is barely a day that goes by without some bucket being waved at you from collectors on the way out. I do like it when a grumpy morning coincides with the Catholic Support Services looking for money. Their pleas are usually answered with "tell the Pope to sell a painting'
