Argo. Really quite enjoyed it, Ben Affleck is actually a pretty good director, apart from the one line that dismisses everything the NZers did to help.

Of course me being me, I had to go research the true story to compare, and was pretty bloody disappointed to learn all the best bits didn't actually happen. Meh.

In real life the hot French chick that Braveheart dusted up in the movie of the same name was born after he was executed.

They also chose not to depict all the Sassenach lasses that he raped and murdered in every village that he plundered.

So yeah fucken hard finding a "true" story that isn't embellished to make it better.

I just re-watched the original... probably hadn't seen it for nearly 20 years. Still a good movie, but I have to admit that I found they character of Bodhi was less sympathetic than I used to.

Also, I found the final scene far less ambiguous watching it in HD.

I felt the same about Bodhi when I watched it at Xmas , to do that last scene Darrick Doerner had to wipe out deliberately at Waimea five times to get the shot they wanted . Bugger that.

I think the original Bodhi was pretty cool, but had a nasty streak, whereas the fake one is just pointless, I dont think I ever sympathised with Bodhi though.

Swayze played the role very well. I'm going to avoid the sequel for as long as I possibly can.

Nope, I don't say anything I wouldn't say to someones face in a pub.

Quite a few 90's movies don't hold up today, Heat is a notable exception, I'll enjoy that flick til the day I die.

POint Break was a mint movie at the time (watched it ALOT at a down time of my life, was an escape) up there as one of my faves, but like you say, some dont stand up that well, I reckon its been 10+years since I last watched it though.

I've watched movies that scared the beejeebus out of me as a kid, and thought WTF...

You'd need to go a long way to find an 80s horror that's genuinely scary. In saying that Halloween and Friday the 13th are good value to laugh at purely to watch all the jocks, prom queens, nerds, weirdos and token black people getting hacked to bits.

Dr Who was scary as a kid but I rewatched a lot of those old episodes with my son and there were as cheesy as hell and not scary at all .

One movie I doubt I'll ever sit through again is Dead ringers with Jeremy Irons . That was disturbing and very strange.
