@Donsteppa At least it was sunshine and not rain that stopped play in Napier last time!

Exactly, one shower and that Napier ground would take the rest of the match to dry out the outfield 🙂

@Donsteppa That is the worst thing about the ground. They blast out the same irrelevant songs at every opportunity. Seddon Park is so clever with their selections.

Everything else was great there yesterday.

Back at the safety of the couch and cricket on two channels. Funny the way the weather has worked out, yesterday there were reports of heavy rain everywhere nearby, but all good at the ground.

Today what few showers there’ve been around seemed to go right over the top of us. Can confirm that a young pohutukawa tree does a good job of shielding several families from hail...

Dick move from Jamieson. No need to throw it at the batsman.

Nice run out Santner. I guess when you’re a part rounder you really need to take all opportunities that come your way.

Yeah it’s not quite a Botham ashes 1981 effort so far is it ?

He's got to do something to try to justify getting in Patel's way. Boult skittles Shah and now the follow on is suddenly looking tougher

Well yeah but I see the argument for them selecting him even if I disagree with it completely. If he goes then Patel bats 10 or 11, Jamieson goes to 7 and all of a sudden the tail looks really long. Santner does have a test ton which the selectors will use to fall back on. The best he can manage in this innings is two wickets ( tailenders at that )......can he actually make any impact in the 2nd innings ? ( which will hopefully be very soon )

Live stats are a funny old thing.......

It's common fern wisdom that Boult pretty much walks into an all time test team with a very good record of 274 wickets at 28.02........But Southee has 298 wickets at 28.63 and is pretty much never mentioned..........over their careers that's a difference of precisely fuck all.......I wonder why Boult is so much more revered and admired than Timmy ?

Didn't see it but is it really ? we've been the nice guys of cricket for years and years. Isn't a bit of mongrel good in some cases ?

    Was OTT IMO.

He threw it at the batsman. Couldn't pretend it was anywhere near the stumps.

    And no.

Again, didn't see it but if it is like you describe then that is pretty shit. Hopefully youthful hotheadedness that will subside as he gets older because fuck me days he's a talent and then some.

Pakistan all out for 239 and that's stumps. Faheem unfortunately falls for 91, but they avoid the follow on.

That's niggly but at the very least the BCs don't have a couple of annoying overs tonight.

Tom squared will want to atone for the first innings ( says MN5 wisely stating the fucken obvious )

Boult's ODI record is superb. Different game but it plays into people's perceptions.

If it was a straight pick between the two and we are playing at home, I’d pick Southee.

Question: if we play Australia at Lords in the final, is it with a Dukes or Kookaburra?
