Yawn, another hundred for Kane. He's so boringly predictable these days.

I vaguely remember Lance Cairns playing, but no clear memory of his bowling. I gather he was another 80's bowler who could get the ball to talk on occasions.

About now Pakistan are very happy with their first innings score, especially having been 83/4 at one stage.

Sub 120kph but huge in swing (especially with the white ball at night).

In terms of a NZ cricket player ( or any cricket player for that matter ) whose aura exceeds his returns I can’t think of anyone who comes close to Lance Cairns.

You'd look at him nowadays and wonder how he managed to make to First Class level as a bowler.

For those who can't remember Lance think a burlier version of Chris Harris, strangely similar action, about the same pace, similar in swing.

But even in the Young Gun days you wouldn't have picked Harris as a specialist bowler. He was primarily a batsman.

Lance could take wickets though. Took a couple of 7fers, including bowling us to victory in England for the first time.

An ok bowler I'll give him that but he averaged 16 with the bat. SIXTEEN !

He was a bowler who batted 9 or 10 (Chats was 11).

It's tongue in cheek, I love our little master.

Speaking of which I note that his 24th hundred has come in his 83rd match. For point of reference Sachin Tendulkar got 51 in exactly 200........so without getting ahead of ourselves and bearing in mind Tendulkar is not the single greatest batsman ever despite what the Bobs and Vagene crew say it is still some fucken effort. Incredible stuff from KW.

Long may his boring predictability keep going.

In other news Henry Nicholls closing in on another ton and sneaking a bloody decent average himself at 43.27.

Rossco might not be so missed after all.

KW also just 12 runs short of 7000 for his career.

With his incredible form and conversely Rosscos relatively lean trot he should beat him before too long too.

                          The captain drops one now.

WTF kinda shot was that from Nichols though? Tiredness maybe but that was fishing well outside the off stump.

Edit, probably a little harsh on Nichols, it was a great ball from Afridi.

How long left in the day? Do they go to 7pm cos of the time lost ?

Would be super for them to go into day three with a handy lead.

Yeah he will and you know it.

As for Lance Cairns - The Hero of Headingly (and yes I tried to replicate a complete front on action until I pretty much fucked my right shoulder).

"He took ten wickets in New Zealand's first ever win on English soil, at Headingley in 1983."

71/3, is it a case of the wobbles? Nah, just another day at the office for the BCs, casual 215 unbroken partnership...

It is a serious turnaround in the the way we perform (thank you Mr Hesson).

Difficult to attribute credit really, but having Kane sure helps!
