What a bizarre and juvenile series of events....

    https://wisden.com/stories/warne-on-samuels-just-because-you-were-an-ordinary-cricketer-no-need-to-be-an-ordinary-person?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR3QHkHIfD6AJoXy7haCQziVAJkFyvxXEVvdDTvv7W0dAqUMvizaFO2D1Ng#Echobox=1603885725

Warne is correct about him being an ordinary cricketer though, just as Samuels is correct about Warnes face not being real haha

Had some good fortune to see highlights of the first finals of the IPL.
Kane's Sunrises vs Kohli and Hesson's Bangalore. Elimination final so red hot occasion. Bangalore made 137 odd and Sunrisers 2 for 50 odd when Kane came in at 4.

He simply won the Elimination final for his team.
50 not out and a partnership with Holder that got them through.

Just Classic Kane. Just as a lull was developing he clinically smashes danger spinners over midwicket fence the nudges a 4 then creams cover drives. A bloody pleasure to watch.

Earlier Boultys Mumbai gets 200 batting first against Delhi. Delhi bat and after 1.4 overs are 3 wickets for zero runs! Boulty with two jaffers. Mumbai straight into the final.
Two Tauranga lads instrumental in earning their teams big pay days.

Fucken rugby in the cricket season... 😒

That reminds me. Windies are here soon, they have to go in a long quarantine which won’t help matters given in the last 30 or so years they often turn to shit and don’t try very hard when things don’t go their way.

I noticed that Sky had an promo for the upcoming Australia-India series at HT in the rugby broadcast. That seems more interesting than subscribing to Spark to watch NZ vs WI.

It’s been that way for years. At least it’s not Bangladesh or Sri Lanka although not sure the Windies have much in the way of class players, Holder excepted ( I’d say best All Rounder in the world at present )

@Siam I see Little Kane was asked to repeat the dose last night - was in course to do it with 67 from 45 balls - but then got out with the game in the balance.

Shortly afterwards the Sunrisers fell apart needing 23 from 10 balls.

Some fun commentary on Boult and Bumrah......

Marcus Stoinis ahead of Rishabh Pant. More ducks than at a pond. Two slips in place

    1.2
    w
    Bumrah to Dhawan, OUT
Ladies and gentleman. If you ever want to see domination, this is what it looks like. Lose the toss, ask to bat, score 200, and reduce the opposition to nought for three. Swinging quick yorker. Searing and moving. Traps him lbw first on the toe, and then breaks his off stump. Bowled takes precedence here
    S Dhawan b Bumrah 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
    Slip in place

    1.1
    •
    Bumrah to Dhawan, no run
Short of a length, no room, punched to cover
Mumbai going all out here. Bumrah to share the new ball

    END OF OVER 1Wicket maiden
    DC: 0/2CRR: 0 • RRR: 10.57 • Need 201 runs from 114b
    Shreyas Iyer
    0 (1)
    Shikhar Dhawan
    0 (0)
    Trent Boult
    1-1-0-2
Kishan is holding on to his right shoulder. He has slipped when throwing, which means he is at the risk of throwing his shoulder out. But he is staying on and the physio has been sent back

    0.6
    •
    Boult to Iyer, no run
Double-wicket maiden to start off with when defending 200. Hardly gets better. Short of a length, pushed to pint, and Kishan has hurt himself trying to deny them the single they are not even serious about
In comes captain Iyer. Had an ordinary day in the field with his bowling changes

    0.5
    w
    Boult to Rahane, OUT
Bashes the front pad this time. When they were looking for swing, he bowled across them. Now he has drawn Rahane across twice, and has bowled the late inswinger to trap him in front. In an otherwise powerful attack, when you can't afford to see Boult off, this guy is a menace. And he is shrewd to go with his skills
    AM Rahane lbw b Boult 0 (3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
    0.4
    •
    Boult to Rahane, no run
On a length, around off, pushed to cover
    0.3
    •
    Boult to Rahane, no run
On a length, slight swing, defended solidly off the front foot
In comes Rahane now. Now pressure will be on Dhawan to score quicker than usual

A wicket for Boult in the first over of each of his three matches against DC. And I need not remind the management and the owners: they let Boult go in the off season. They let him go

    0.2
    w
    Boult to Shaw, OUT
This is such clever bowling. Shaw is looking for that inswinger, his feet are not going across, and Boult has not given him the inswinger. He has bowled on an angle. And with feet unsure, his hands push at it, and it takes the edge. What's more? It is a cutter, meant to go across. Clever clever bowling
    PP Shaw c †de Kock b Boult 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
    Wide slip in place

Vishal Pawar: "Whether dew helps DC chase this down comfortably or MI bowlers defend this well above par target, for me MI are the real champions for the sheer courage and audacity with which they have performed in all departments. Any other team would have given up after half your team is down at 15 overs and reach a mediocre target. "

    0.1
    •
    Boult to Shaw, no run
No swing. Short of a length, just outside off, defended
Shaw takes first strike. Can he turn his tournament around?

And now Trent Boult will be swinging it in looking to bash that front pad of Shaw. Imperative that Dhawan takes first strike. Boult took a wicket in the first over in both the matches between these two sides in the league stage

So we need to keep an eye on England with regard to the Test Championship.

    ENGLAND

Current points percentage: 60.8 (292 out of 480)

    What’s left (max 240 points):

-Sri Lanka 2 away tests (60pts per win, 20pts per draw)

-India 4 away tests (30pts per win, 10pts per draw)

What they need to top 70 per cent:

220 more points (win both against Sri Lanka; and win 3 and draw 1 against India)

Sri Lanka not currently helping our cause. All out 137 and by all accounts down to poor cricket.

Raining currently. Hopefully that keeps up.

And yeah I know winning 3-nil in India is a stretch ...

They're odds on to win the 2 in SL. I relax when I see they have to do the impossible in India🙂

Joe Root making sure he can look fellow Yorkshire team mate, Kane in the eye. 168 not out as poms take a 184 lead for 4 down.

I think England winning against Sri Lanka is probably good as then they will have more motivation when playing India,

We will likely need to draw or win at least game in India, maybe more in India win against Australia.

Well not really, he’s a battler who has made every post a winner, not an overrated all rounder
