These tail end runs are super annoying for the Aussies. Brave batting facing 148kph with a first class average of 2

The man who instigated the 1981 underarm bowling incident has some lessons to pass on.

Greg sounds like he regrets underarm 81 to this day

I bet he does, it generated so much controversy for nothing. I mean I wasn't actually alive when it happened but it still pisses me off. And the chances of him actually hitting a 6 on those massive boundaries with an old bat were almost zero.

Indeed. Christ we have an embarrassing inferiority complex when it comes to Australia. That β€˜incident’ should have been forgotten decades ago.

How do you think it compares to Bodyline? Because that still gets raised every time the Poms are in Oz

Yeah but that was a crisis.

4 off 90 balls aimed at them after lunch. Amazing.

Good change of pace there from Hazelwood.

Interesting few overs coming up here for the Aussie batsmen. If India get a wicket or 2 before stumps, it could be the Aussies fighting to survive.

Funny listening to the Fox commentators getting frustrated over the last half hour that the three Indian #11's won't only swing wildly at the ball and immediately get out just to suit Australia's needs...

@nzzp Yeah they got carried away with it especially towards the end. If anything, they probably were a bit too late using it on Thakur and Sundar as they had a bit of success with it eventually, but could have cleaned up the tail a bit quicker by aiming at the poles.

I've still got Aus winning this game. Can't rationalise it but just a hunch due to test experience vs newbies.

Intriguing stuff and a vital few overs tonight

Lot of pressure on Warner here. Given the game situation, he gets a score and Aus have a fighting chance of a win. A quick ton might well win the game.

It's because they're Australian fucking cricketers. Annoying as fuck to man, but one of the pricks always delivers. Usually more.

If they were shit, we wouldn't hate them so much

It'll be a draw based on the forecast.

As for the short stuff - the number of edges, near-edges, and gloved mis-timed shots it produced that just went over a fielder justified it IMHO.

"Bowl at the stumps!" works unless the tailenders are just getting on the front foot, blocking or driving you, which they were.

Sure, 4 balls out of 90 that would have hit the pegs was not great, but that is a small target area really, and batsmen get out playing something that might hit the stumps as well. These guys weren't good enough to edge it.

Leaving Lyon on to bowl that many overs was the big mistake, instead of getting pressure on at both ends as soon as Starc found something approaching rhythm.

    Off to a Warner-like start, 20 off 22 with 3 boundaries.

Play likely to be disrupted tomorrow and Tuesday due to weather puts the batting team in the box seat on dictating this how this match will pan out.
