I'm just desparately hoping we play England, it comes down to the last ball, needing 3 to win, Boulty gets hit on the pad, it runs away to the boundary, England appeal for LBW umpire says "not out", England have no more reviews, and ball tracking shows it plumb ... and we win on boundaries...

I mean we'd win by 1 wicket with no tiebreak needed, but yeah I'd take that.

England - must win the next 2, only option
India - must win at least one and not lose anymore
    Australia - anything else!!

I’m predicting an India win and draw to close out the series

I think that’s pretty fair. England basically rely on one batsman, an overrated all rounder and two ancient fast bowlers. I can’t see them recovering from this latest loss

@No-Quarter If each match is a 50-50 proposition then Oz still have three cards, India two and England one.

no way 50/50 in India. The last pitch was turning square on Day 1. I think it's going to be 3-1 or 2-2; can't see a draw.

I'd say India are red hot favourites, and then Australia. Can't see England winning two on the bounce - but who knows in these crazy times!

Yeah - I think England's card has been burned and put in an urn - but, you never know.

You'd think India are red hot favorites, but the cricketing gods like to fuck with us NZers.

You just know the poms are going to win both tosses, flounder a win somewhere and let the fucking Australians in the back door!

The WTC is making this a fascinating series though. Maybe the ICC is somehow orchestrating a close series as it feels a bit like those final chases on The Chase where the contestants only score 7 but The Chaser inexplicably takes 1.58 minutes to get there.

shit, this! WTC makes this super meaningful, as the context is so much more than just 'win the series'. Great call

Indians better ensure no water lubed decks and keep it a cracked surface, better for tearing

England will have a few key players back for the 3rd test, although there does seem to be some rotation of players.

Worth remembering if England do make it to the final, we play them in two dead (?) Tests from June 2 which will be quite a quirk

Are those games before or after the WTC final?

That makes the next pitch surface interesting.

The last tests you could see the new ball being progressively scuffed up basically each ball.

The pink ball tests in Aus, NZ, and England have such a dramatic effect because the ball doesn't get a hard time on the wicket, block and outfield.

It'll be interesting to see how the ball holds up on subcontinent surfaces

I'm a bit preoccupied. So if England don't make it we get a 2 match warm up series? Nice

Both NZ and England will likely be missing players due to IPL commitments for that series.

What about India? How many of their players will be tied up? A fair few I'd imagine

I mean for the NZ-England tests before the WTC final.
