Craft beer in an offie is usually in the range of $6-10 for 500 mls.

I find bar prices in Akl are around $11-12/400 mls.

1.6 litre of Emersons = $39.

My brother was over for a fortnight in Jan and a few quiets each night was consistently costing $200.

I've had quite a few that are worth that. Also had plenty trying on the $9-$10 a 500ml price that, while OK, certainly aren't worth that kind of $.

Then again you have the likes of a decent Garage Project IPA in a can at $4-$4.50 which I find is a good price. Panhead have gone to cans as well for their main lines as they packing advantages mean they can keep the price down to $40 a doz.

If you are looking for some half frozen malt beverage to knock back quickly then by all means go cheap.

$6 a beers is $144 a carton. You don't have to "go cheap" to find $144 a carton fucking outrageous.

You are welcome to it.

well I had a 750ml bottle of my 2nd batch of home brew on Saturday, it was pretty damn good, both neighbours were impressed too...cost me $29.95 for the ingredients, and I have 6 750ml bottles left and about 16 500ml.

One of the Liquorlands here had a superb range of Craft beers and they vary wildly from $5 a bottle upto about $15 for a 500ml usually, but they have 3 on tap that change fortnightly. Given it usually takes me 3 days to get through 6 bottles I usually only grab a couple at a time anyway.

That's crazy.

I usually have no problem with mark ups in bars, after all they have to pay a lot of overheads, but you wouldn't catch me paying that.

It is certainly a drawback with craft beer that if standard markups are applied without recognising the cheaper element of keg v bottle/can then it is priced way too high.

One dozen Tuatara 330mL bottles ranges from ~ NZ$30 to $40, IIRC.

Had some Stone & Wood Pacific ale in Melbourne recently. Made out of Byron Bay, I don't usually like craft beer (yes call me a philistine) but this brew was very good

If they went Glass bottles I'd imagine it'd be over $20 and you're right on some level, for those of us raised on crates of DB, Tui or whatever other shit we chugged back in our early 20s that is extremely fucken pricey but nowadays that is the norm for anything vaguely decent. It's only a dollar more than a sixer of Heineken LIGHT which is the beer I imagine they serve in hell.....

I got a doz Panhead ( cans ) and took them to a Barbie last week for $37.99. You'll quite often see foreign beers for anything from $10 upwards for a single can at the Supermarket, Some 750 ml bottles are over $20.

I haven't tried their Pale ale yet but I'm safely assuming it is all kinds of awesome. Definitely the best thing to come out of Upper Hutt since Cory Jane.

That's pretty low alcohol content for a decent Porter I would have thought.
