If they went Glass bottles I'd imagine it'd be over $20 and you're right on some level, for those of us raised on crates of DB, Tui or whatever other shit we chugged back in our early 20s that is extremely fucken pricey but nowadays that is the norm for anything vaguely decent. It's only a dollar more than a sixer of Heineken LIGHT which is the beer I imagine they serve in hell.....

I got a doz Panhead ( cans ) and took them to a Barbie last week for $37.99. You'll quite often see foreign beers for anything from $10 upwards for a single can at the Supermarket, Some 750 ml bottles are over $20.

I haven't tried their Pale ale yet but I'm safely assuming it is all kinds of awesome. Definitely the best thing to come out of Upper Hutt since Cory Jane.

I tried a few of them at a stand last year, great drops but haven't seen them since.

That's pretty low alcohol content for a decent Porter I would have thought.

Whatever blows your hair back but I find $40 for a dozen beers robbery. I find almost $20 for 3 beers wallet rape.

You don't have to drink swill to find good beer for $50 a carton.

This is probably exacerbated by insisting on buying by the 6-pack. Which is the supply chains way of robbing you

Not really. Porters don't need to be high alc to be good. Just quality malt. The Imperial version is about 7% though and really good.

I tried a few while in the US and most where ghastly. They tend to do a few 'Vanilla Porters' and they taste sickly.

Denver Beer Co do a great one that has such a biscuity taste it is called 'Graham Cracker Porter'

If I am going out, I go back to the trusty ole "Drive-its"! but at home I usually have something a bit different in the fridge. Either Panhead Blue or Emersons pilsner (I think it is)

I'll drink cheap spirits, wine and coffee pretty happily if I like them, one of my mates brings fucken Speights Gold ( at best slightly higher ended mass produced shit than NZ lager or Rheineck ) to any social function yet if he pops round in the morning and I don't have freshly ground coffee that a cat has eaten and shat out then he'll thumb his nose at me. Each to their own I guess.

If your craft beer is anything like our then I don't blame you. I've got some bloody hipster joint opened up across the road from me which sells this swill.

Barman: " This is craft beer, you won't find it anywhere else"

Me: "I'm not surprised. It tastes like shit".

Anyway, I'm not welcome in there anymore. Couldn't give less fucks. Down the road is a proper pub and this sells normal bitter beer made by smiling, rosy cheeked Devon maids.

Cato - craft beer here is closer to CAMRA with fewer of the hipsters talking about notes of liquorice and mandarin citrus.

That sounds better dogmeat. I absolutely love proper beer or real ale as people seem to like calling it. It's been a great disappointment to me over the years to see all the regional brewers in the UK fall by the wayside and the ones that come along after them get swallowed up by the urinatory brewers such as Coors as soon as they get any degree of success. The poxy craft beer lot are now taking the moral high ground spouting all this bollocks about being hand made (whatever that is in brewing terms) and having new and exciting flavours. What's wrong with beer tasting of beer? If I want something that tastes of pears and honey, I'll eat some pears and honey.
