how many did they get to the Baabaa-Argie game a couple of weeks after the RWC?

Maybe the Argies rated the Wallaby game the least of the 3 home fixtures.... :fishing:

Pretty stoked as a Wallabies fan. Much rather play the Argies at Twickers than in Mendoza or Salta or Cordoba or wherever. Not to mention it will be a far easier trip from SA.

Our kickers will line-up for goal with dignified pommy silence, rather than struggling through cacophonous noise and laser pointers in their eyes.

This makes absolutely no sense to me.

"While we witness the daring and exciting brand of rugby played by southern hemisphere teams on a regular basis, last year's Rugby World Cup well and truly showcased that skill and flair to the rest of the world," Sanzaar ceo Andy Marinos said. .

"Aligned with our intent to take this product across the globe, Argentina have embraced this by moving one of their home fixtures to Twickenham thereby affording an ever growing fan base in the United Kingdom with the opportunity to see two of the world's most entertaining teams to compete for one of the world's toughest trophies in front of a passionate rugby crowd at Twickenham."

That seems pretty bloody condescending to English rugby and in fact the entire 6 Nations tournament which has a big following and a shit load of history behind it. Do fans up there really think "ooohhh I wish I could watch a Southern Hemisphere team, any Southern Hemisphere team, instead of my country!!" ???

UAR president Carlos Araujo said rugby interest in Argentina was growing and after seven domestic Super rugby matches, the Pumas would play the Boks and All Blacks at home before taking their final clash to Twickenham.

Sorry if the interest in rugby is growing in Argentina why the fuck are you taking one of your home matches to England? How does that help "grow" the game in Argentina again? Am I missing something?

The part that makes no fucking sense to me is Argentina sharing the revenue. It's THEIR home game! Are Australia splitting the revenue from their home game against Argentina as well? Or is this a one way street? Because to me, it doesn't seem like Australia should be coming out of it with much money at all. They can give up their own fucking home game if they want a bail out.

Yes, well, Argentina needs money. As you say they can't play a game in the USA. No one would watch it. So they choose to play a game in one of the most famous rugby grounds in the world, which they know they can get a good crowd to.

Ah yes, this is just a cynical money grab by the ARU - unlike those noble, selfless All Blacks venturing into barbaric non-rugby territory to spread the good word and give the local Irish some love.

A quick look at some stats shows that the Aussie games haven't sold out in the RC in Argentina. Last year they got 25k into a 43k seater.

So the Argentina fans didn't show up, and hence, they've given the game to a 82,000 seater, which I believe will sell out. With probably more expensive tickets too.

Looking at it like that, makes a compelling argument.

Certainly won't be English fans who will be waiting a few weeks until they can see England play Australia.

The Barbarians don't sell out, so I'm clearly not as confident that Twickenham will be full to watch Argentina.

Of course, it's a money grab. Just like us playing Ireland in the USA.

At least we have the guise of "growing the game", which in fairness is a reasonably valid reason for playing in a huge un-tapped market.

Also, we aren't impacting the integrety of the RC where traditionally the home/away games have been hugely important in deciding the comp. Argentina now have one less home game, hurting their chances of winning the comp.

But really I was just highligting the stupidity of the reasons given for playing the game at Twickers, which are beyond taking the piss.
