Anyway... moving on.

What I like about these new films is that they actually look like Star Wars. I get that it was a different time, but the prequels were too bright, with too much CGI and over-fancy mechanical shit that apparently didn't exist 30 years later. Some of that separatist kit was straight-out ridiculous.

Just simple stuff like those Walkers is really farking cool.

The prequels were not without their faults but in some ways they were back in a "simpler" time when the galaxy was at peace. By the time of the original trilogy they had been at war for years so it's not surprising that uniforms/spaceships etc had a "grimy" look. Death Stars and Star Destroyers probably cost a fair bit to manufacture so all the Galactic credits went into funding them as opposed to keeping the planets looking pretty ( or training foot soldiers to shoot straight )

Say what you like about them but they also introduced some fucken cool new characters ( yeah yeah.....and Jah Jah )

Rey, Finn, Ren etc aren't as cool overall as Dooku, Darth Maul, Jango, Mace Windu etc but there's still a few movies to get some more cool ones I'm sure.

Yep, some great new characters. Qui Gon was another. Even the very minor ones like Plo Kloon and Kit Fisto are pretty cool. But the execution was terrible. It was like Lucas was drunk on CGI and went nuts.

A good example is E3 (which is actually very good). The space battle at the starts looks great, but then they have that bullshit with Obi's ship being wrecked by those insect droids or whatever the hell they were. Totally unnecessary.

As for new characters, that Forrest Whittaker looking guy (is it him) and the Samurai dude look a little meh.

I would love a movie concentrating on Wedge and the x-wing pilots.

Yeah that Samurai looking bloke concerns me. A lot. You don't go up against a bunch of Storm Troopers with a stick or did I not see it correctly and is it some kind of laser stick ?

Also trying to work out the identity of the bloke in the black cloak walking up to something that is flanked by the Red Royal Guards ( would be good to see them in action too ).

Can only assume it is DV or the Emp.

be interesting to see how a SW film will go with no 'favourites'. No R2-D2, C3PO, Obi Wan or Jar Jar...

Instead it will largely based around characters no one really knows.

Vader hinted at in the trailer (in silhouette).

Don't be surprised if R2 and 3PO are spotted in the background either. After all they were working for Leia who is the one who receives the stolen plans in the end.

But yes, this will mainly be a new set of characters set in the universe.

The Rouge Squadron novels (no longer canon) were cool. Like Biggles in space.

Any money Vader turns around and stares right at the end. Thus leading to the next exciting instalment and more cash.

Anyone can wear the suit, no issue there but I've heard some pretty lame attempts at the voice. Any chance James Earl Jones could come back ?

Tem Morrison probably wouldn't mind a well paid gig as Boba Fett or a really old clone too. Mind you the leads in the recent one "only" got a few hundred grand each which really surprises me given Star Wars is the biggest thing on the planet.

I just assumed given that it was Star Wars and there was maybe a reasonable chance it would do ok at the box office they'd be getting 8 figures.......

I think they get more cash if the film grosses a certain amount. In any case, they can live off ComiCon conventions for the rest of their lives if their acting careers don't take off.

Lots of tall, good looking, young women who want to be in Star Wars. Only one Harrison Ford. Now there is only one Ridley and Boyega and I imagine they will get a lot more for the next movies.

Yeah pretty sure some of them charge a couple of hundy for autographs, multiply that by lots and lots of nerds and you have a pretty good cash cow there.

I saw a doco on Tem Morrison and how he was basically broke, this was before that movie with him and Stan Walker but surely he could make a fucken killing at conventions from playing the dad, and the voice of, the most iconic bounty hunter in geek history.

where does Tem live, if NZ I'd say that is a hinderance to him living off Fett
