A very different genre, but how about kids and Austin Powers? My eldest is on at me about being allowed to watch. As usual, a mate has seen it and therefore he has to as well.

Im not sure a film about a horny pom constantly using the word shag and having it off with Allota Fagina is something for kids.

I haven't been asked about that yet...I guess there is an awful lot of innuendo in it.

I think it is a shame that Violence is ok but sex isn't in terms of humans (Not talking about kids)

haha yeah, I have thought about that...but I guess the thing is, he is likely to go out and have sex with girls, but unlikely (hopefully) he will go out and kill people
-

look, both my kids have watched all the Marvel movies, and Jurassic World. But i find that a little more cartoony than some of the shit in Doom. Raiders would be alright, i reckon my youngest would laugh his tits off at old mate's face melting off. Crusade would be alright i reckon.

I don't have a problem with showing them, i just wouldn't want the little fuckers to ruin my viewing enjoyment by a) asking too many questions, or b) getting bored at any point.
-

I can not agree more. I find it ridiculous that prime time network shows can depict seriously graphic violence but showing rude bits is strictly verboten. In fact alot of these shows have sex scenes but don't permit nudity. How does that make sense?

I did find that Europe is the opposite to the Anglo world. Nudity and sex are no big deal, but graphic violence is. -

Yeah, I was more meaning that the taboo side of it, is a shame.

I sometimes think that surely kids would be worsely influenced by watching a load of violence rahter than a load of s7x

EDIT: I should have quoted TR but I also agree with what you said RS

There should be a rule that female nudity and violence must be of equal quantities and it should apply to TV as well.

Banshee nearly gets there except the graphic nature of the violence isn't matched by the graphic nature of the nudity.
(I could do with less shots of Rebecca's naked butchered body thanks)
-

spoiler alert much Crucial?

I'm an eighties-sexual. There aren't enough soft filters, smoke effects, and sultry music in that kind of movie.
-

I bet there's not even a single song on the soundtrack that mentions the night, the heat, the city, and the street.

There's no way you'll find yourself thinking "I can feel it, I can see it, I hear it, ooooooooooooh I can taste it" at any point.
-

and always with the sax

-

nothing screams 80s music like electric drums and sax.

Combine the 2 and you have nearly every movie soundtrack for a decade (and jamaican steel drums too)
-

Phil Collins had no idea what Lovecraftian horrors would be unleashed when he invented the gated snare effect.
-

"Midnight Sax" should be a music genre. Any song that employs the "flicking the reed" technique is in.

Reading through this thread, I was just thinking exactly the same thing. It is the most fucked up thing in the world that American movies don't blink at violence or multiple people being shot/decapitated/blown up, but baulk completely at a nipple. Or those laughable sex scenes where women wear bras to bed. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. No woman in the world wears a fucking bra to bed.

I don't get the weirdo puritan stance. I know some might say they are 'protecting' women, but looking at rape/sexual assault/stalking/teen pregnancy stats, that sure as shit hasn't worked, now has it.
-

the thing is, for all that gratuitous violence we are talking about, you don't see any real consaquence of it, it's bloodless. Aiming for that PG-13 means fuckers can get shot, but bloodlessly. You can root, but no titties.

It's all about money mother fuckers. Lets just hope Deadpool making a fuck-load has changed a few attitudes
-

None better illustrated than the music during Commando ( not "Fight for love" by Power Station which fucken rocks, what a group they were )......also why use a bass guitar when the low keys of an 80s synth did just as well ?

"The Heat is on" by Glenn Frey...."Careless Whisper" by George Michael.....the aforementioned Tim Cappello.......anyone else reckon the 20's might see a resurgence of the sax ? after all "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars sounds like a song that Prince or the Time couldn't be fucked recording during Purple Rain.....
-

The interesting thing is that the quintessential 80's soundtrack hit didn't have any sax at all. It was just that good.

No sax but enough gratuitous 80's synth/piano to sink a battleship.....

Tough to say which Beverly Hills Cop song is the best ( first movie is way better as is often the case )

Bob rocked those blue blockers didn't he ?

The moonlighting theme by Al Jarreau had some sweet sax.......as did the Ghostbusters theme
