So Ennor would be making it on form from 2 years ago?

That's gotta be the luckiest selection for some time. As a centre he doesn't even standout in NPC games.

When did he last play NPC? Also 2 years ago?

Edited to add that he last played NPC in 2019 (5 games only).

So you've forgotten about what the Chiefs scrum did to the Blues in Hamilton?

@bovidae no mate I have not forgotten what the refs interpretation of the scrum rules did to the Blues Pack in Hamilton. That ref performance was fucking disgusting.

@taniwharugby Aumua has been a beast this season with limited minutes (mainly because of injury). I reckon he's easily top 3 in those Hooking stocks. I'd argue from what I've seen from him this year he probably offers more than Coles now.

Leaving Aumua out would be a strange call, unless he is injured. I think I recall him going off injured in the last game so if the team is right maybe that's why?

@crazy-horse No, Aumua got injured in round 3 of SR T-T (v Force) and missed the round 4 game (v Brumbies). He started again in round 5 (v Reds).

I'd be surprised to see anything other than Knowler's squad, with the exception of PUJ covering for ALB, and maybe Robinson or Grace/Blackadder covering for Frizell.

I am sure Aumua will be one of the hookers named. The good thing is that we will know straight away, along with some marginal selections, as the squad is read out in alphabetical order.

                  Aumua, Blackadder, Bower, etc.

Ok cheers. Could have sworn I saw him taking a knock then going off a wee while later, but I would back your recollection over mine.

It's not a RWC year, that's the time they take punts on wingers in form, (successful in 2015, less so in 2019).

TVNZ Sport is basically picking the same squad as Knowler (PUJ in for ALB, 35 so no Bridge). Taukei'aho over Aumua is the only real difference.

Props: Nepo Laulala, Karl Tu'inukuafe, Tyrel Lomax, George Bower, Angus Ta’avao, Alex Hodgman

Hookers: Codie Taylor, Dane Coles, Samisoni Taukei'aho

Locks: Sam Whitelock (captain), Brodie Retallick, Scott Barrett, Patrick Tuipulotu, Tupo Vaa'i

Loose forwards: Ardie Savea, Hoskins Sotutu, Dalton Papalii, Ethan Blackadder, Shannon Frizell, Akira Ioane, Luke Jacobson

Halfbacks: Aaron Smith, Brad Weber, Finlay Christie

                            First-fives: Richie Mo'unga, Beauden Barrett

Midfielders: Rieko Ioane, David Havili, Braydon Ennor, Peter Umaga-Jensen

Outside backs: Jordie Barrett, Sevu Reece, Leicester Fainga'anuku, Damian McKenzie, Will Jordan

@tim I hope those are not the props. I feel Lomax has been well off the pace and Hodgman at times too. Not sure re Bower. Otherwise pretty solid selections.

Yeah, although I guess we could look on the bright side? Loose forward stocks are (seemingly) up, with a number of guys finally hitting form all at the same time. So it's not like that there - probably the same for the FR, where there are a number of young fellas really putting their hand up.

Midfield, meh - but probably no more meh than last year. Retallick back, A Smith in career best form, despite previously being in career best form, Mounga ready to make the step up and ensure he still missies kicks to touch so we have something to argue about.

It's also only the squad for the PIOTR games, a second squad will be announced for the RC.

We just need Jordie to play another full season on the wing for the fern to have a complete meltdown.
