@chris shit, he has the worst luck. Is that a different injury to the one that finished his Super campaign?

The kid has spent more time on the sideline than on the field so far in his career. Hope he can turn it around.

I think most players, who played for the Maori ABs and national squads over the past few weeks, won't play yet this weekend. That doesn't explain all these names missing on squad lists, but quite a few.

@mikey07 I'm picking the following loose forwards - Kirifi, Smith, Delany, Savea (All Blacks), Whitman, Lakai, Halalilo, Ropeti and Ben-Nicholas (if he hasn't left NZ already).

If I had to pick a top Wellington XV right now minus All Blacks you are probably looking at something like this:

        1. Numia
        2. Thompson
        3. Fidow
        4. Blackwell
        5. Bird
        6. Delany
        7. Kirifi
        8. Ben-Nicholas
        9. Judd
        10. Morgan
        11. Goosen
        12. Umaga-Jensen
        13. Proctor
        14. Savea

Maybe saving some petrol in the tank for the start of NPC,
and a chance to look at some others like Johnson and Kellow from the academy

@canes4life TBN left on Tuesday, I haven’t heard anything about Whitman have you seen anything on him, but yes very weird a few Canes players aren’t lacing up for Wellington, I haven’t even seen Billy Proctors name on MSPs team list since the Canes finished.

@bovidae I think Plumtree injured himself a couple of weeks ago playing for OBU so not too sure how long he's out for. Delany should get first crack, he's been in and around the Canes for a couple of seasons.. I rate him but would like to see him have a good campaign for the Lions before taking the next step to Super.

@mikey07 probably because he played for the Maori All Blacks. Loose forward / Prop are looking like a real weakness for Wellington this year. Will be interestsing to see who they pick in those areas.

I haven't seen too much of Whitman so can't judge too much but he may get the 8 jersey as there aren't too many other options out there.

@mikey07 Is this in reference to Delany or Whitman? I think Delany will pick up Fifita's spot and if Plumtree hasn't yet commited to the Blues, he might grab that 5th locking spot.

@canes4life didn’t even click about him being with the MABs, There’s some talented loosies coming through bit raw at the moment, Props always been our weakness not much there behind Armstrong, Fidow and Numia.

@canes4life I can only remember Whitman from playing for the NZ Māori U20s in their game against Fiji U20s. Not sure, but I think he's a cousin of the Thompson twins, who played in that same game? Also plays for Marist St Pat's.

There could be perfectly good reasons for him not making the MSP team like the Doolies coaches not considering him good enough to unseat the incumbent, or something as simple as not being a financial member of the club.

@bones Not at the moment!!! The incumbent is Ben Tuiatua who I know diddly squat about other than this appearing to be his first season at Premier level for MSP. He musty be getting a bit long in the tooth as he was playing Prem Reserve way back in 2010.

There is also a mention of someone that might be him being included in the Wgtn Samoan Squad in 2015 playing out of the Ories Club. http://www.collegerugby.co.nz/national/story.php?id=1591&page=12&sort=`date`+DESC&searchfield=&searchstring=

Where's Connor Garden-Bachop at with his rehab. Is he going to be back in time.

Here's a quote from the ODT article about the pre-season game with Southland.

"Most notable among the injured players was midfielder Thomas Umaga-Jensen.

The 23-year-old has had a horror run of injuries in recent years and picked up a ‘‘banged-up shoulder’’ in club rugby last Saturday.

Donnelly said the team was waiting on assessments to determine how bad it was and what it would mean for his role this year.

                                          "
